Update: Prayer Request from SNS

Update #2:

“I’ve been reunited with my wife, and prayers worked, the surgery went very well and her lymph nodes are clear of cancer at first path. Now my vigil begins, I get to keep the hospital from killing her with neglect or mismanagement which they’ve already done since some ass removed her Foley that her surgeon SAID was supposed to be in till tomorrow, and I’m SURE they will find OTHER ways to mess up over this long night, but right NOW, I just praise God that she’s on the mend, not hurting too bad, woke up from anesthesia in her right mind and without her lungs blown out, and a thousand other scenarios that “worst case” mind ran during the 6 hours of surgery.”

Finish reading his post from last night at 8:45pm.

Update: Her surgery was delayed and finally started at 1:30pm. See comment by SNS at 1:48pm.

I received a request for prayer this morning from SNS. His wife, RL, is going in for surgery this morning, 10am Standard Time, and he would like prayer for her:

“If you can help lift my wife up in prayer, I would greatly appreciate it. … Please pray to guide the surgeon’s hand and that she receives full and complete and pain free healing with no infection or complication, in the name of Jesus.”

Thank you, dear family!

  1. I’ll be thinking about you SNS and your wife. I have asked God to put his healing hands upon her. He is the great healer and he does answer prayers.

  2. Lord, thank You for the men and women who care for us in our hours of need.
Please Lord, be with the surgical team and all the medical personnel today as they treat RL. Give comfort to SNS and bring swift and complete healing to RL. Your grace will hold them all close.
Thank You Lord for Your mercy and grace

  3. Prayer does matter. 2 1/2 years ago, people prayed for me. Some I knew, some I did not, some from across the ocean. Those prayers (I believe) changed a vascular surgeon’s mind from amputating my leg to saving it. The Holy Spirit was with me the night I was bleeding out in an emergency room and will be with SNS and his wife.

  4. SNS, praying for you and your family to continue to have faith and perfect peace and that the Lord will definitely heal your precious wife.
Praying the surgery will be very successful and she receive a quick recovery and healing. – in Jesus Name. AMEN

  5. Thanks to everyone for your prayers, that’s one thing I love here is that we support each other in prayer as the Bible commands.

They were late and just took her back. It’s powerful hard to watch a bunch of strangers wheel your wife away into a future of blood and pain and knowing too much about what CAN go wrong, but prayer helps all, and the Bible verse we read together this morning.

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”
    Deuteronomy 31:6

…I read the prayers above to her to lift us both up, thank you for them. It’s in the Lord’s hands now, and though it’s expected to be a six hour procedure and we need oncological results after, it is in the hands of the Lord and He will guide the hands of the surgeon.

Again, thank you. Words fail me to express my gratitude, but I am truly blessed by you all.

  6. SNS, I hope you don’t mind me offering a Jewish prayer for your dear wife.

Merciful God, we pray to you for the recovery of RL who is facing illness or pain. We join our
prayers with all who love her. Grant them renewed strength and courage. Strengthen in them
the healing powers You have placed within us all. Guide the hearts and hands of those who are
entrusted with her care. Help all who share the anxiety of this illness to be brave and
hopeful. Inspire them with courage and faith. Grant your blessings to all who call upon you. Grant RL a r’fu-ah sh’lei-mah, a complete recovery. May healing come speedily.

  7. SNS,

Now that she is finally in surgery, I will pray extra. I was thinking that she might already be out, so I will keep praying for the surgeon’s skills.

Please know that God is always with you and your dear wife. He loves you both and will pour his mercy over you. I thank God for his power to heal and protect. After all, he created us and knows just what RL needs.

Thank you, God, for your love, care and protections you shower us with. Amen.

  8. I was a surgical nurse 40 years, every day spent at the surgeons side, and every surgery I repeated the words, Lord guide surgeons hands and make mine swift and nimble.

God guide you both to health and happiness

  9. We pray dear Lord for SNS’s wife RL. We lift her up to you Almighty God and ask that you would bless her with your healing grace. We pray for her speedy and full recovery that it may be to your great glory. In Jesus’s precious and powerful name, AMEN!

  11. …pg. 2 so no one’s gonna see this, but I’ve been reunited with my wife, and prayers worked, the surgery went very well and her lymph nodes are clear of cancer at first path. Now my vigil begins, I get to keep the hospital from killing her with neglect or mismanagement which they’ve already done since some ass removed her Foley that her surgeon SAID was supposed to be in till tomorrow, and I’m SURE they will find OTHER ways to mess up over this long night, but right NOW, I just praise God that she’s on the mend, not hurting too bad, woke up from anesthesia in her right mind and without her lungs blown out, and a thousand other scenarios that “worst case” mind ran during the 6 hours of surgery.

They say a coward dies a thousand deaths, but its even worse for an old medical pessimist like me, I get to see my loved ones die a thousand deaths in my mind…but sometimes that HAS been a gift of God too because it helped me head off one or two ACTUAL deaths as well.

I know to trust trust the Lord, but old me still thinks on disasters.

And thanks to everyone who supported her in prayer. That’s one thing that makes us better than other sites, snark though we may, we sure can come together to pray each other through some terrible things. I thank God we have so many willing and able, and unashamed to ask God for help for themselves and for others.

    Thank you for doing so.

And thanks to Cluadia for posting this and to BFH for creating and maintaining a site where it is welcome. I commend them and all those who keep this site going to God for holding Him up and allowing others to as well.

“13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”
    James 5:13-15

We have fullfilled that Scripture this day.

    Thank you.

    God bless,
    SNS

  12. …I’ve been praying for Fur since he came up missing. It’s his thing, though, if the man doesn’t want to talk about his business, I respect that.

I pray anyway tho. I don’t have to know.

    God does.

  13. All struggles in life are met and overcome with Prayer, Faith, Family and Friends.
Blessings to RL, SNS, family and friends.
Praying for strength, pain relief, and continued healing.
    Thank you Jesus.

  14. @SNS: “I know to trust trust the Lord, but old me still thinks on disasters.”

Your next prayer should be “Lord I believe, help my unbelief.” Your wife made it through the surgery – he answered our prayers, she’s on the mend. Take her home ASAP! One more thing – 99.9% of the stuff we worry about never happens. Think on that one, because it’s true. Worry kills.

  15. Blessings to SNS and RL! This is wonderful news.

Thank You Lord. We praise You for Your comfort and mercy. Please keep SNS, RL, and the medical professionals under Your protection. We pray for a swift and full recovery for RL. Amen.

…you are quite right. And the Lord agrees…

“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?”
    –Luke 12:25

…the night is over, and I didn’t have to pick any fights to save any lives this time! Other than an Albuterol inhaler they lost when they moved her to her bed and the aforementioned improperly discontinued catheter (which the PCAs will probably blow someone up over because that was more work fir THEM, believe me), the hospital did pretty well this time! She’s up and about, sort of, and we’re waiting for docs to teach us about some new medical equipment she’s taking with her in and outside her body so we can go home. There are months of healing yet and still some tests we are waiting on, but we can be confident that we will surmount the challenges with the Lord’s help and grace.

I am humbled by God in many ways on this Ash Wednesday, but especially now by the faith and wisdom and prayers of our odd little online family here. God has touched many here, and it is to His glorry that they can share that strength through faith openly and unashamedly that we may lift each other up, even in this cold, impersonal, electronic forum.

“Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”
    1 Thessalonians 5:11

    You have done that here.

    Thanks and God Bless,
    SNS

  17. @ SNS;

Stay vigilant! Over 300,000 a year die in the US from medical mistakes.

Still praying. I have a very rare metastatic melanoma of the spinal cord and understand the need for God’s intervention.

Thank you for your prayers, and it sounds like you need prayers as well as we all do. Sorry you’re dealing with a cancer, particularly a rare one that likely doesn’t have a ton of research, but the Ultimate Physician can lead them to a cure regardless.

Dear Lord, we plead to You this day for the dire need of this child of Yours, whose name is known to You, that he may feel Your blessed touch to counter this scourge in his body, have their symptoms muted and any pain removed, and be given a testimony to Your Glory as You move where doctors have not to either remove this disease directly or lead his doctor to a cure unexpected. This disease may be rare and may be difficult, but we know that You can move against any disease, cure any illness, heal any weakness with only a thought. We know that You move by faith in Your own time, but we read in Your Word that You command us to ask for healing that You may grant it to Your designs and to Your glory. Please touch this child of yours, make Your sign according to Your Word, and let Your healing stand as an unmistakable testimony to us all. We are not worthy but by Your Son, so we ask it all in the merciful name of Jesus, amen.

“6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
    Philippians 4:6-7

We wait upon Your Answer Lord, hoping, praying, expecting, and awaiting the day that Your will be done.

Thank you Lord, for all that You have done, are doing, and ever promise to do.

    God bless,
    SNS
