President Trump Backs House Immigration Reform Bill – IOTW Report

President Trump Backs House Immigration Reform Bill

Breitbart:

President Donald Trump has effectively endorsed the House GOP’s immigration reform bill, just one day after he invited Democrats and Republicans from both the House and Senate to negotiate a deal.

The White House statement said:

President Donald J. Trump is grateful to Chairman [Bob] Goodlatte, Chairman [Mike] McCaul, Congressman [Raul] Labrador, and Congresswoman [Martha] McSally for introducing immigration legislation that would accomplish the President’s core priorities for the American people.  The President looks forward to advancing legislation that secures the border, ends chain migration, cancels the visa lottery, and addresses the status of the DACA population in a responsible fashion.

The House legislation, announced Wednesday, is being applauded by pro-American reformers.

“The vast majority of Republicans in the House can vote for this — it is common sense stuff, and it is what President Trump campaigned on and won on,” Rosemary Jenks, policy director at the Federation for American Immigration Reform told Breitbart before the Trump announcement. She added:

There are things in this bill that I don’t like, but the balance overall is pro-American. Trump needs to get on board with the House bill and tell the Senate that is what he wants.

The bill would implement the most important 35 elements of Trump’s 70-point October immigration plan while providing a minimalist amnesty for 670,000 enrolled ‘DACA’ illegals.  Read it here

  1. My parents came here legally in the 40’s and 50’s. Illegal immigration was a big reason for my trump vote. This issue will not go away and after reading the proposal it is a rule I have no problem supporting. If this works it is another stunning move.

  2. No amnesty for illegals. They need to go through proper channels REQUIRED BY EXISTING LAWS to become citizens like anyone else would. Otherwise, you are encouraging illegals to keep coming. We are either a nation governed by rule of law for everyone equally, or we are a banana republic.

  3. Why don’t they officially rename amnesty and call it Jeb’s Love instead! Then the problem with amnesty will go away as everyone coming here illegally will be loved!

  4. “They’re only ‘illegals’ until we make them ‘legal’.”

Keep your hands down. How many patriotic Americans, lovers of federal occupation forces, lovers of state occupation forces, lovers of county occupation forces, lovers of municipal occupation forces, lovers of all their administrative support branches… standers for the flag, lickers of the boot… think The United States of America will ever not sell you out? For better, cheaper, more loyal… newer… “Americans”.

  5. The socialists have abandoned their pseudo-moral posturing on immigration and shown themselves to be rabidly anti-American, dedicated to our destruction, through various means, but principally, by carting in millions of illegal-alien invading rat-people and collapsing our economy and skewering our elections through more and greater fraud (such as that which enabled Obola’s second term).

We are fools to allow it. President Trump negotiates in good faith with faithless, dishonest, conniving counterparts. He should cede nothing. Have the Senate apply the “Reid Option” and damn the socialists.

    izlamo delenda est …

  6. Read the bill. It’s not “amnesty” It lets the current group of DACA recipients reapply for a work permit every 3 years. Not a green card. No pathway to citizenship. It gives them the right to be taxpayers.

In return we get the wall, end to chain migration, end to diversity lottery and a crackdown on “santuary cities”.

This is NOT comprehensive immigration – which would deal with the number of immgrants allowed to come in and the merits of each person or anchor babies.

This is a big step toward delivering on the border security that politicians have promised for 30 years and a BIG blow to democrats who need a steady flow of unassimilatable illegals to stay in power.

Don’t confuse this bill with amnesty which would give tens of millions of illegals full citizenship including the right to vote and access to all social welfare programs. Trump is raiding companies that employ illegals as demonstrated by the raid on 7-11’s and the plant in Chicago.

Tell me – If you don’t vote for this bill, how are you going to get democrats to build a wall, end chain migration and the lottery? Isn’t that worth letting a handful of DACAs renew work permits every 3 years?

  7. Trump Administration is probably the last chance American culture has a chance to assert meritocracy as an immigration requirement. The Chamber of Commerce Neocon Globalist “foreign worker” (citizen replacement) plan is expanded. DACA is punted. E-verify becomes “mandatory” (WTH, why wasn’t it before?). A link is taken from the chain migration scam, it isn’t eliminated. Kate’s Wall is slow-walked into bureaucratic death.

    This is bullshit.

You will know it’s bullshit when the Communist Statist Axis Party releases its shillbots and pro-memes.

As long as they say they agree to put on condoms, you won’t get AIDS. You won’t get syphilis. You won’t get herpes. There’s only eight of them. You might not even get pregnant. If they actually put the condoms on, of course. All of them. If they actually keep the condoms on, of course. All of them.

So, let’s just stop calling it “rape”. It’s the best I want you to do. So lay back and tell me “It’s OK”. Tell me “It’s the best you’ve ever had”. Even if you only think “It’s the best you can get”.

  9. Bring a clean bill up for funding the wall. Nothing happens before that!!! end of story.
People in favor of this bill remind me of the BS that was shoved down our throats
U need to pass health care before we can vote on taxes.
Yeh that was a lie. Many fell for that crap and called the rest of us stupid. Here we go again.
We have both houses of congreSS and we have Trump start acting like leaders the Democrats have nothing to do with this we don’t need them. They didn’t need Republicans when they passed Obamacare. Act like u r in charge or u will be replaced!

  10. Looks like a lot of people here want a king, not a constitutionally-aware president. Even the king of England had to work with the parliament, guys. You want POTUS Trump to rule with a pen and phone. Every EO can be erased with the next president. The R’s can be the majority party, but they’ll never be the exclusive party, of the congress and the courts. And even if they magically were, there would be a lot of “moderates”.

How many times does Trump have to say he won’t sign any legislation that doesn’t include the wall and the rest of his immigration agenda? Wholesale DACA deportation was never a campaign promise.

Did you actually read that article? Because by what you be typing, I don’t think so. DACA is the only tool Trump has to get the votes. With out it he couldn’t even get this Bill passed in his own party. The wall is in this Bill. DACA recipients are now reportedly down to 670,000 total with most living in California. In other words ZERO IMPACT ON THE VOTE. This is a good Bill.
Or we could play it hard ass, continue the stalemate, continue the illegals pouring in, no wall, no E Verify, no increase in ICE personal.

    Also
“People in favor of this bill remind me of the BS that was shoved down our throats
U need to pass health care before we can vote on taxes.”
Go read the damn thing, hit the link.

  12. I’m going to copy and paste a few brilliant Leigh Scott posts:

The Democrats are never going to authorize the Wall and the other things that Trump wants. That ends their big plans for “demographic change” to secure power over the next generation.

What WILL happen is Republican bill for the Wall, border security, eVerify etc. that will pass the House, but die in the Senate.

Trump will then hang this whole thing on the Democrats for letting down the DACA children, choosing partisan politics over “love” AND expose the GOP shills as being liars for not supporting what they ran on for the last eight years.

The result: decreased Hispanic turnout and support for Democrats and a purging of more RINOs from the GOP in 2018.

Folks forget who they are dealing with.

He purposely chose Jeb Bush’s language when talking about DACA. Again, this guy isn’t dumb. He wants to raise the stakes on what THEY want to make it that much harder to resist what HE wants. This is basic negotiation and sales tactics. I’m dumbfounded that people can’t see it. Have they never bought a house or a car?

People see the divisions in the GOP as a problem. But right now, he’s using them to his advantage. He’s already driven out Flake and others. He’s setting the table, reshuffling the deck. He’s got seven more years folks. Buckle up.

Good stuff. Right on the money. I just wonder how he’s going to keep from shutting down the Government while this plays out because you know that’s where the Democrats are headed.

  14. A lot of thunder, palaver, rhetoric, and yak about DACA legalization, walls, comprehensive reform, selling out, open borders, 3D chess, tough negotiations, and compromise, yet all that needs to be done is to strictly and immediately enforce the immigration laws already on the books!

  15. BB — I read your linked article. I’m always careful when I read stuff that doesn’t have attributable sources. It dishes on insider relationships. I really like Stephen Miller, incredibly smart and wise beyond his years. He’s like a prodigy. Maybe a real prodigy. Trump is smart enough to take in all kinds of info without being bamboozled.

  16. BB — Yeah, LOL. On the good cop thing? He did that really well the other day when he said “I’ll take the heat.” He was like the Good Fairy talking to the Munchkins: “Come out, come out, wherever you are…” ‘cept the house is about to fall on THEM.

  17. TO JTuck
I’ve got some tin pans and a little flag for you to use if you’d like to parade around my living room at your “I’M MORE PURE THAN YOU” fest.

Your ideological rigidity is *charming*…just not worth a squat with such a thin majority in the Senate and so many GOPe-ers in both houses. Page O Turner and Bad Brad get it. Come back maybe when there’s a veto-proof 60-body majority in the Senate (better yet, *don’t*).

Enjoy your tantrum (TRANSLATION: it’s people like you who help those who wish to “divide and conquer” people pushing policies that can actually move the ball forward for us).

Re-read Page’s and Pinko’s posts and try to break your chains.
