The wreck happened last September in Norwich and police say the driver of the car was high on marijuana at the time. It’s a case that puts drugged-driving enforcement in the spotlight.
Keith Cushman was originally charged with two felonies that could have sent him to jail for up to 30 years. But Tuesday, he walked out of court, free to go home, after pleading guilty to misdemeanors, avoiding jail time altogether. Family members of the victim say it’s insane.

If they were all in the same Truck..Then they all share the same
responsibility . Just like when We were Young and Dumb and went Bar

Definitely need a Roadside Pot Tester though.
Had he been under the influence of alcohol, he would be serving the full 30 years, but because it was marijuana (the preferred drug of progressives and libertarians), he goes free. Yup, insane.
I’m with Tony R
He should do the same time as if with alcohol
The powers that be all want us perpetually stoned and docile so of course they don’t come down hard on this guy.
Hey, that’s just the price you have to be prepared to pay to live in a free society.
*puff*
Was this a joint decision by the courts?
All bc politicians want the extra revenue in selling pot so they have more to give away to slackers who do nothing to earn their keep
wow man. far out. How fast we goin?
I think we’re parked man
Same logic being applied to fireworks. When I was a kid in NY they were illegal – “You’ll blow your face off” now that the state is running out of revenue streams, its okay to blow your face off as long as they get a few dollars more to urinate away on some other dead-end project. Sure they’re looking to keep us safe. cough, cough.
