Epoch Times: WASHINGTON—Under sanctuary policies, many jails release illegal immigrants who have been convicted or charged with a crime, despite a request from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to hold the person for transfer of custody.
A bill sponsored by Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) aims to allow any subsequent victims of crimes committed by that illegal alien to sue the politicians who created the sanctuary policies.
The bill, Justice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities Act of 2019, was introduced in July to the Senate Judiciary Committee and a hearing was held Oct. 22.
“These reckless sanctuary policies are putting our brave law enforcement officers at risk and the general public in harm’s way,” Tillis said. “In many cases, I believe these serious crimes could have been avoided if local agencies simply complied with U.S. law and cooperated with ICE.”
Mary Ann Mendoza, an Arizona woman whose 32-year-old son was killed by an illegal alien in a 2014 car crash, testified at the hearing. She said the group she co-founded, Angelfamilies.com, would encourage American victims to sue their elected officials should the bill pass. read more
It’ll go nowhere, unfortunately.
How is it that politicians who are clearly aiding and abetting criminals escape any accountability for their actions?
The same goes for judges, any controversial ruling should be immediately reviewed by a panel before it’s enforced.
Enough of the crazies making a mockery of the legal system!
A law that lets politicians beheld accountable for their actions?
Nice idea, but one that is doomed to failure from the start.
“A law that lets politicians beheld accountable for their actions?”
they should be held accountable for the consequences of any law they pass and not just in the next election.
that would stop a lot of their social engineering law making.
Another pol, who wants free TV time, to chant “Look at me. Look at ME. LOOK AT ME!” “I’m different. I’m special. I promise you the same things all the pols promise. But I promise them differently.” “That makes me special.”
He should quit the communalist team of The Party league, and join the conser… what? Oh. Never mind.
CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE: When you know the risks, but perform the action anyway resulting in harm or death.
Yes, this bill won’t pass. But insist on a roll call vote so that everyone is on the record as yes or no
Won’t work with ICE? Then no access to CODIS, AFIS, or any other federal crime resources.
The bill needs to be specific about who is considered a “politician”. There are a number of sheriffs,(Wake, Durham, Mecklenburg counties for ex.) in North Carolina who refuse to assist ICE with retaining illegals charged with a crime.
A bill requiring NC law enforcement to comply with ICE has already been vetoed by the leftist activist NC governor, Roy Cooper.

However, The NC Sheriff’s Association does support ICE.

This new bill by Tillis has a snowballs chance in Hades passing, but miracles happen. It’s most likely a granstanding gesture by Sen. Tillis.
How about just arresting these creeps for violating federal law. Obstruction of justice.
Elected officials should be held criminally liable for the harm “sanctuary” cause.
State AGs are suing drug manufacturers for marketing to drug addicts, hows about residents of rural areas who want nothing to do with “needle exchanges” start suing the bastards who are foisting this bullshit on their communities? Include among the defendants, volunteers, suppliers and prog politicians.
