Protest Erupts in Downtown L.A. Following Reports of Immigration Raids at Homes Across Southern California

KTLA: While immigration advocates say more than 100 people were detained Thursday as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials conducted home raids across three Southern California counties, the federal agency insists its operations were “routine” and not part of President Donald Trump’s unprecedented immigration crackdown.

ICE officials have yet to release detailed information on how many people the agency arrested Thursday and where they were taken into custody, only stating that the activities were “targeted and lead driven, prioritizing individuals who pose a risk to our communities,” according to ICE spokesperson Lori Haley.

“Examples would include known street gang members, child sex offenders, and deportable foreign nationals with significant drug trafficking convictions,” she said in an email. “To that end, ICE’s routine immigration enforcement actions are ongoing.”

However, according to Jorge-Mario Cabrera, communication director for the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of L.A., those detained were either people with deportation orders but no criminal background or family members of those sought who were home during the raids and told officials they lacked documentation.

The organization’s attorneys confirmed there is a list of more than 100 people being detained at the ICE processing center in downtown Los Angeles after immigration raids were carried out at homes in Santa Paula, Oxnard, Van Nuys, Downey and San Bernardino, Cabrera said.

  1. “However, according to Jorge-Mario Cabrera, communication director for the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of L.A., those detained were either people with deportation orders but no criminal background.”

Got news for ya Jorge, if they are in the US illegally, then they have a criminal background due to the fact that they came to the US by breaking our immigration laws. Docent matter if they have been standup folks since, they broke the law coming here, and should be deported, and since we don’t want to break up families, their fuckin’ kids can be deported with them.

  2. Check both of the Targets on Balboa blvd (Northridge and Granada Hills) and the one in Van Nuys in the San Fernando Valley. I guarantee you none of the stock workers know a bit of English. NONE.

  3. If there were deportation orders on them, then they’ve already had their “due process” and were given obongo “Get out of jail” cards so they could get their “affairs” in order. They’re criminals, pure and simple.
I guess that enforcing the law, just like being allowed to defend yourself is not allowed in obongo’s America….but they forgot that on 1/20 the new sheriff came to town.

  4. Raid the damn “protests.” They’re waving Mexican flags. I take this to mean them are renouncing their US citizenship (if any). Club them unconscious and toss them over the wall.

  5. I’m so sick of the media spin always making it look like they are tearing up sweet innocent families. First, where are the fathers? When they deport a precious felony convicted mother, he never seems to be around to pick up the pieces. And second, if you’ve got a bunch of anchor barnacles shouldn’t they travel with their parents like American families often take their children overseas with them if they decide to leave this country?

  6. Please tell me who would attend this protest?

They are saying that our laws can be ignored. They are saying people who broke our laws and are basically invading our country are more important than fellow Americans. That is unpatriotic and treasonous.

Surly… surly, you don’t mean that these upstanding citizens (of some country), who have committed no crime (crime), should be forced… allowed?… custody of their minor children!? Children of non-criminals should always be abducted fr… I mean children of criminals should always be incarcerated wi… Oh, dear, you’ve given me the vapors.

  8. At every protest in California, no matter what the protest is about, they always carry the Mexican flag. Southern CA is so mexicanized, it is starting to look just like the shithole they all left.

  9. Just imagine for a minute if you illegally moved to Canada in the 90’s and then had four children while you were there. Canada finds out, you’re kicked out. You leave your kids there? Nope. The WH and conservatives need to ratchet up the righteous rhetoric that the children of illegal aliens aren’t “anchors” any more than an American illegal would be in Canada…or Mexico.

Who gave that Mexican political candidate a visa to come here and rabble rouse?

  10. Round them up. Ship them back.

For every 100 we deport, there will be 1,000 who see it on Univision, then decide to self-deport while they still can.

They will pack up, spend the balance of their EBT cards and Food Stamps, do some final shoplifting at WalMart, then skip out on the rent and take their car (36 payments still owed) across the border.
Their landlords, auto lenders and credit card companies will discover they’re gone when the monthly payments don’t arrive.

Short term losers: payday loan companies, WalMart, bad-credit car lots, Western Union, bilingual 7-11’s.

Long term winners: all US taxpayers, all police agencies, hospital ER administrators,
Social services agencies, school systems (and American students and teachers) etc etc.

  11. We need to start calling these people what they are; not illegal immigrants, not undocumented workers but invaders and deal with them appropriately. Their tactics may be different but other than that they are the same as any other invaders in history. Round them up and either deport them or put them in concentration camps. Also like any other invaders through out history, they have collaborators in this country who need hanging.
