Yesterday there was a large, male red fox roaming my neighborhood in the middle of the day and there was a bunch of howling in the vacant wooded property across the street from my house. He seemed to not fear people and was just wandering around. I got within 10 feet of him in my car and he didn’t act scared when I stopped, rolled down the window and yelled at him. Later he came within 30 feet of me while I was cleaning up branches in my yard. At first I thought he may be rabid and in the early stages, but then I read on-line that mating season could start as early as January and it’s been unseasonably warm the last few days. Sorry I didn’t get a picture for you Claudia, but when a big fox jumps out of the brush unexpectedly near me the last thing I think of is taking a picture.
I understand, Jethro! The few times I saw our fox couple here, I just had my nose pressed to the window admiring them and didn’t even think to take a picture! That was when we first moved in, but all our activity around their den made them leave. Darn!
If we could only take pictures with our eyes!
