4) Marco (SIMON AND REDMOND) The dogs have done it again! I found a carving knife and a tin of cinnamon Altoids in the fold of one of the dog beds. How they didn’t cut themselves getting it off the counter and stuffing it in that bed is a great mystery. At least they were planning on having good breath when I had to take them to the Veterinary Clinic!

6) Old Guy (Molly) My former cat named Molly. She always had a silly smile that made me laugh.

Here’s to a fine morning for all! Thanks, @Claudia, for the good start to that.
@Anymouse — Intriguing shot of the Sandhill Cranes. We’ve got lots of them around here in Sarasota County, but I’ve never seen them in anything other than singletons or family groups, max count four. Seeing eight at once must’ve been a real treat!
Are those cranes standing on ice?
I’ve never seen a crane in cold weather. I thought they migrated.
no one tops the creations of God
Thank you, Claudia.
In Maryland, we once had a crane that wintered-over with our domestic duck, and yes, they walked on ice those few days it was cold.
Wonderful collection (as usual).
Thanks, Claudia!
Hope this doesn’t turn into a SNS post…
Behind the geese is where the cranes were walking around. Thirteen of them and while we have two small family groups up river they’ve never landed here before. Maybe it was those returning after their trip south. Was hoping they’d stick around but they left in a couple of days. Their flights in the large V’s of hundreds mark the seasons fall and spring.
The daughter’s place three doors to the west has good sized spot of open water (springs) that NEVER freezes. We have resident birds now that do not migrate and when everything is froze solid she has the open water at her place. Eagles also join in looking to steal meals from the gulls and/or pick off any cripples from hunting season. No limit to the “DEI” of waterfowl. All night every night they get to listen to hundreds of geese talking. Growing up in that house I had the constant tutorial on calling and talking waterfowl. Never been to Stuttgart, Arkansas and also never heard anyone call ducks into the decoys like I can. Geese not as well, but wasn’t as many growing up back then. Still, can voice call those and get them to charge my yard when they’re fighting for nesting sites (starting now).
The caption for the goose picture should be, “What’s the lead on a walking goose?”
I’m not buying the two Red Boys another dog bed until they apologize. In writing. In legible cursive. Redmond and Simon are sleeping on old towels at night until I get that formal apology.
Love the “scene of the crime” pic. Suspects later identified and apprehended, confession to follow.
Thanks to all who contributed, and to Claudia too for posting.
I just love cats that look like Molly.
