Re-cycling Chicago’s E-Bikes

A group of dedicated Lake Michigan swimmers collected 22 more Divvy bikes from the shoreline at Oak Street Beach and created a “bike sculpture” with them over the weekend.

Members of the the group, the Alternative Anglers Association, pulled out 15 bikes from the lake in just a few hours Friday afternoon and built the bike sculpture over two days.

Glenn Rischke, who created the group — formerly known as the Divvy Fishers Society — was shocked by how many bikes and how much construction material was on the floor of the lake, he said.

“All of those bikes you saw, including the fencing, came from a 40-foot section of the lake,” Rischke said. “We had to remove a ton of the fencing before we could even get to the bikes.” More

Divvy bikes were introduced to Chicago ten years ago. The city now claims they can be found in every ward, though the usual neighborhoods remain underserved. The city has a plan to put in 150 more miles of bike lanes, despite many complaints of streets being too dangerous to even walk.

  1. I get why Bird did well, at first anyway, it was new and interesting. But now, there is no way they are profiting off of this and I can’t imagine any investors looking at long-term and wanting to buy in. So why do they keep putting bikes and scooters on the sidewalks for people to just throw in the lake?

  2. Anyone remember when the internet was going to be peace-love-dope? To the extent Google, probably the single most depraved institution on earth had a slogan that went something like ‘don’t be evil’. Well these bikes are part of the same leftist twaddlery, a half assed attempt at free or nearly unaccountable use of a tool with a ‘please treat it nice’ tag on there. Whores kind of do the same thing but they toughen up real quick… or wind up in the lake too.

This shit never works, welfare never works, free anything always gets abused horribly. Every freaking time. Yet, the people elect leftists full of twaddlery again and again. I think it’s women and queers who do the dirty work in the voting myself and I wish they’d just lay off, they’re very expensive and genuinely frustrating for responsible people who have to deal with the results of their leftist twaddlery.
