Regulation Nation: Where Independence Is Illegal without a Permit

The Most Important News

These days, you need permission from the government to do just about anything, including feeding yourself or others.

  • Do you own a car? Every year, you must go down to the DMV and pay the government for permission to drive it.
  • Do you own a business? You must register it and pay an annual fee to operate it.
  • Do you want to renovate your home? You must pay the government to come and tell you if you’re allowed to, how you are allowed to, and to check it afterward to make sure you complied with all of their rules.
  • Do you want to swap your homemade goodies for someone else’s homemade goodies? You’re supposed to get permission from the government to do it, and they’d also like you to pay them taxes on the transaction.
  • Do you want to educate your children at home? In some states, you have to pay for permission to do that. You still have to pay taxes to support your local school, mind you, but you’ll need a “permit” on top of it.
  • Do you want to hunt or fish to supplement your food budget? You’re supposed to go get a license to do that, too.
  • Do you want to go off the grid? If you’re even allowed to, you’ll have to get a permit and an inspection.

The government is aware of their own pending obsolescence and that’s why they’re so desperate to regulate every darned thing. Oh – and the money – they make a ton of money from forcing you to purchase permission to live your life.

  1. I don’t ask the government permission for anything. They should know by now that they can just kiss my arse.

And Trump says they will have to kill two old regulations for every new regulation made. That’s my kind of guy.

  2. It seems I have been a slave to the state (federal, regional, state, county, township and local) all my life.

I see nothing to give me encouragement or hope that it will change in my life time or my children’s children.

One step forward, two steps back.
Even when property values dropped, property taxes did not.

As a retiree, I’m just thankful I am able to pay the $360 per month property tax to continue to live in my own home ….. for now.

  3. We ran a food pantry for 9 years. 6-7 of those years i did everything(free child labor though. I had lot’s of kids for a reason you know)except the paperwork. You have no idea what you have to go through just to give food away to people in need. It is insane. Not just the rules, regulations, storage, etc. It’s the “programs” the head person, or persons have to attend to learn useless information about more useless information about what the Gov’t requires you to do to be so blessed to give food to people in need. One of the biggest things that got me was the paperwork. Whenever anyone received food, they had to sign a form. If they took the pen and scratched the side of the paper to make sure the pen was working, we had to throw it away and start a new one. Mind you we paid for the food. I ordered the food. I picked up the food. I set up the tables and set food out. We distributed the food to these people. But, the Gov’t was in control. ( this is a short version, it became to much and we had to stop the program. Would be different if we were a large organization, but when just a few of you are trying to keep it together, forget it )

  4. “Trump says they will have to kill two old regulations for every new regulation made.”
That’s why the current administration is in overdrive to pass as many regulations as possible. They are trying to gum up the works.

Personally, there are some things that we have to cough up money for that disappears out of our paychecks without us ever seeing it. The rest of the stuff I refuse to pay for. If I get caught, so be it, I pay a fine. Otherwise the Federal Government can kiss my ass in the county square at high noon.

  5. Trump can’t fix this. It is certainley ingrained into the States right of being….Taxes. I have an enclosed trailer that I paid sales tax for and I pay a tax to license and tag it. Now, they want me to pay a tax just to own it, yearly and it hasn’t moved in a year. Motherf**kers are gonna own a bunch of nothing pretty soon…

  6. The explosion of regulations during the Obama years caused to much extra needless paperwork where I was employed I wasn’t really sad the morning they said go home & don’t come back. Kind of happy really to be rid of the stress of it. The over regulation had taken the fun out of doing the work. And I liked doing the actual work. So re-leaved that finding a new income was a distant concern.

Yet I recall years ago, 30 years ago maybe, hearing of a book, titled Did the Government Give You Permission to Pee. Or some similar title.

It was an anti over regulation book. The title coming from an example in the book of the obstacle course needed to be overcome to install a bathroom and septic tank system. From the design of the commode and the septic tank, to requirements of how it had to be installed and tested, building permits, licensed installer, etc. All of it way more than it needed to be.

  7. Freedom to choose.
    Voluntary Taxation system.

You have the choices of taxation without representation, losing your home, fined (with interest), financial ruin or imprisonment.

    It’s all voluntary, your choice.
