Rep. Bill Posey, R-Fla files bill letting states enforce immigration laws when feds don’t

Just The News: Rep. Bill Posey, R-Fla., has filed a bill that would give states a greater ability to enforce immigration laws when the federal government fails to do so.

Posey and Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody announced his bill, the Immigration and Enforcement Partnership Act of 2022, after the Biden administration decided to terminate Title 42, a federal public health rule used during national public health emergencies.

Moody has sued the administration several times for violating immigration law.

“Maintaining operational control over our nation’s borders is critical to our security and our ability to stop human traffickers, drug smugglers and other violent criminals and terrorists who mean to do our communities harm,” Posey said. “When the federal government abdicates its role in protecting our nation’s borders and refuses to enforce immigration laws allowing millions of people to illegally cross into our country, states should have authority to protect their citizens.”

HR 7413 would allow state officials to require the DHS secretary to enforce federal immigration law in certain circumstances. It gives DHS the option to enforce the law or deputize state officials to carry out federal immigration duties instead. read more

  1. Bill the Poser. Seven term R. Mails out slick pamphlet every re-election year w the same bullet points of “everything” he’s accomplished year after year.
He could save taxpayers money with a postcard that reads “second verse, same as the first”.
He’s a seat warmer. Never sticks his head up, prob has his office at the end of a dark corridor next to the broom closet, hoping to avoid attention.
To my knowledge he’s never introduced a bill that’s passed into legislation. He votes conservative tho, so I guess that’s suffices as a change agent.
    Great gig Bill.

  2. Stupid Republicans! For once could these weak kneed fools just tell those breaking the law to stuff it and do the right thing? More smoke and mirrors with no resolution. How can you need a law to go against those breaking it?

  3. Can anyone supply a list of federal laws that no one but the feds can arrest for? I assume that cases that require FBI involvement are federal, so kidnappers can only be detained by them? We are being lied to and our country is being destroyed by these swamp creatures and NOTHING is being done. So sad.
