Resist Juvenilism

Townhall

Tens of millions have endured similar circumstances or worse, which is why these sob stories about laid-off workers having mental breakdowns are rightly ignored. No one cares—we’ve all been fired before. Get over it. At the State Department, at least 1,000 people are getting a pink slip…

…[sign left on empty State Dept. office read] “Resist fascism”—get a grip, please. First, odd that this person would share this with PBS, which I was told isn’t biased. There’s a reason some deep state wannabe shared this image with an outlet, which doesn’t need further explanation. Second, these reactions can only mean it was the right decision More

  1. Every penny that goes towards their pay is STOLEN, either through overt taxation or the hidden tax of inflation, from folks who sure as hell have better things to spend their money on. No tears. Want some respect for the job you do? Do it in a private marketplace where those who pay for your services have a CHOICE.

  2. I’ve had the opportunity to attend government-sponsored “layoff orientation”. One interesting tidbit I got from that was the “hey, if all else fails, apply to the government. It’s always hiring.”

Obviously, too many unemployable “by real companies” personnel have been hired by the federal government. There are good federal employees, I know a couple, but they are probably in the minority.

  3. Back in the mid 90s the company that I worked for gave 85% of the work force the pink slip because of new government regulations. They switched to contactors that actually cost them more in the long run. Government doesn’t care if you lose your job because of them. The chickens have come home to roost.

  4. Ive worked for 6 employers in my life, two of them retail giants in their day that no one EVER thought could fail.

Both of them failed, as did the mom-and-pop Formosan restaurant I got my start in because Mom and Pop retired.

I moved on in all cases before they did, as the needs in my life changed and my experience grew, leaving before they left me as even youngeg me knew nothing was forever.

My age-related deterioration and current abode prevents me from working the muni one (they even threw every truck I was ever on away, it was so long ago), but I closed thst door for personal reasons before my knees went anyway, again my choice on where I was in life then and not theirs, in full awareness I would not be doing that as a lifetime career either.

…and I still work the other two.

Of THOSE, one has changed hands twice in the last 3 years; and in another Ive done the same job in the same physical location for 30 years, althogh without moving Ive worked for 6 different owners (one of which was technically myself via an ESOP), including a short but retarded stint with a venture capitalist outfit that mismanaged us so horribly we had to operate in bankruptcy for a time before we could get to the next one.

I have survived all of the foregoing even as my body changes and deteriorates with age and hard use by learning and growing and staying relevant, adding value so it is in THEIR best interests to keep me. I came in with basic skills and a willingness to learn and work long hours doing so, and as my physical ability fades replacing it with hard-won skills that the men who werent even born wheh I started working here whom I have to compete with dont have, in order to stay competitive and justify my pay against them even after three decades of raises.

I live in a “Right To Work” state and work currently for a private and multinational employer. I have no union, no safety net, no protective coloration or feminine appliances real or imagined to put on my side of the scale. Now, as all my life, I am fully aware I must produce or be replaced and keep an eye on the door and another opportunity in mind just in case, and its been that way since I got my first check for hand-washing my first dish when I was all of 14 years old and my mom had to drop me off.

And I am in no way extraordinary. Everyone I work with fights the same battles to keep their job that I do every day, some win, some lose, just the way it is.

    Life is risk.

    Life is change.

You adapt or die in the real world.

I see no reason it should be any different in government.

  5. All these 1,300 plus laid off have jobs waiting for them in the Farm and Hotel industries in every State where ILLEGALS are being removed. If they refuse to do this work, let them stand on a street corner with a sign and tin cup begging for alms.

  6. Sorry, but many thousands of Americans lost their livelihood through “cancel culture” (I was one of those), or because of C19 BS. As JC & SNS said many more directly or indirectly by misguided government laws and regulations. Zero sympathy here.

  7. This is the same State Dept. that accelerated H1B issuances on demand to get millions of US citizens fired and replaced by (often inferior) foreign workers.

This is the same State Dept that worked out “trade deals” that shipped millions of US manufacturing jobs overseas.

This is the same State Dept that got us involved in pointless military actions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, etc.

Fuck the goddamn state department and every long term bureaucrat in there. May they ALL get fired for what they’ve done.

  8. Those bastards will have to move away from the rich neighborhoods clustered around Washington DC because they won’t be able to afford their homes any longer. GOOD! The government gravy train has left the station and you’re no longer sitting in first class. Dollar Tree is always hiring.

  9. Heh, if it were fascism they wouldn’t be losing their jobs, they would have jobs, probably not cushy sit at a desk jobs, get your hands dirty and your back in pain jobs.
Jobs millions do every day, welcome to the grindstone, layabouts.
