Boston.com: PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The state’s top marketing official, who oversaw the disastrous rollout of a tourism campaign that included a video mistakenly featuring a scene from Iceland, resigned on Friday.
Gov. Gina Raimondo said she accepted Betsy Wall’s resignation and added that the state would drop part of a new logo, the tagline “Cooler & Warmer.”
The tagline was designed by Milton Glaser, creator of the iconic “I Love NY” logo, but it left many people scratching their heads. MORE
One part of my job is reviewing marketing literature my company is about to release for technical accuracy in claims, etc.
The ridiculousness of the claims is one thing, but the grammar is often horrible. In many instances a fifth grader could do better. What is really scary is I see this stuff AFTER many senior level marketing people have already reviewed.
Being an engineer I never claim to be great in the grammar department, but wouldn’t you think that is an important attribute in a marketing role?
Rhode Island?
Iceland?
I’m pretty sure that the average Demonrat voter wouldn’t know, understand, or care about the difference.

Seriously, it’s not that hard to find beautiful shots of Rhode Island, and Rhode Island alone, to fill up a tourism catalog. FFS.
