Richard Chamberlain, who soared to fame as the handsome young Dr. Kildare on television in the early 1960s and two decades later reignited his TV stardom as a seasoned leading man in the highly rated miniseries “Shogun” and “The Thorn Birds,” has died. He was 90.
A Los Angeles native, Chamberlain died Saturday night in Waimanalo, Hawaii, of complications from a stroke, the Associated Press reported, citing his publicist, Harlan Boll. More
My two sisters loved him on TV playing Dr. Kildare. I remember them siting glued to the TV in the living room. The hands on the clock got him.
He was awesome in Centennial.
HE WAS A TREMENDOUS ACTOR
SAW HIM LONG AGO AT THE AHMANSON THEATER IN LA PLAYING CYRANO DE BERGERAC, REALLY OUTSTANDING ON STAGE
Bet all the women lusting over him didn’t know he was gay.
Wow. Dr Kildare seems so long ago but I can still picture him in this. But can’t remember the old guy or the dark curly haired “doctors” who came after. It’s on the tip of my brain.
^^^^ Dr. Gillespie….
RIP
Enjoyed his work.
He was the perfect Blackthorne. I can’t imagine anyone doing it better.
