CNN-
Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry told CNN Thursday he will support Donald Trump as the Republican presidential nominee and will do everything he can do to help him get elected.
Perry, speaking by phone from his hometown of Roundtop, Texas, acknowledged Trump is not his ideal choice. When Perry was a candidate for president earlier in the 2016 cycle, he was the first to come out and criticize Trump and question his conservative credentials, calling his candidacy a “cancer on conservatism.”
“He is not a perfect man. But what I do believe is that he loves this country and he will surround himself with capable, experienced people and he will listen to them,” Perry said Thursday.
“He wasn’t my first choice, wasn’t my second choice, but he is the people’s choice,” Perry added.
Good. And eat corn-filled ? Paul Ryan. Can’t believe I voted for that snake.
GTFOAH! No way! So Perry can figure it out but 35% of the readers here have their head so far up their ass they can’t.
Way to man up Rick.
Good for Perry. VP?
Class act.
Jane, that’s not a bad idea.
Gee, that will bring in eight votes. Perry is the same corrupt parasite he’s been for at least the last 30 years.
LOL – Forgot the Rick Perry Dude
Scary Possibilities Of Trump’s Veep Running Mate
#1 – Sheriff Joe Arpaio
Picking the Arizona lawman with a reputation for profiling Hispanic immigrants would reinforce Trump’s crowd-pleasing pledge to build “The Wall” and make Mexico pay for it.
#2 – Sarah Palin
The former Alaska governor, who endorsed Trump early, has become a punchline for late-night TV comics. But she still has a following among many in the Republican base. And she has some experience at this running mate thing.
#3 – Gov. Chris Christie
Trump-Christie ’16: A pair of alpha males from New York-New Jersey. Christie ran a tough-talking, if short-lived, bid for the White House, then shocked the GOP establishment by endorsing the equally macho Trump.
#4 – Dr. Ben Carson
The retired neurosurgeon is still a favorite with conservative Christians, though not enough of them voted for him to keep his run for president alive. His low-key approach contrasts with Trump’s loud style. But they are both political neophytes who could run a campaign to bulldoze the Washington establishment.
#5 – Gen. James “Mad Dog” Mattis
A 44-year veteran, the retired Marine Corps four-star general could be Trump’s go-to guy if he suddenly becomes commander-in-chief and needs a crash course on the world’s hot spots. Mattis, a former commander of Central Command, is so popular with conservative elites that they’ve launched a campaign to get him to run as a third-party alternative to Trump and Clinton.
Talk about a half assed endorsement. Why did he even bother?
GTFOAH!
TO Plain Jane and Bad Brad
I think you’re forgetting Perry’s 2012 inadvertant admission of the truth, when he said in a debate (paraphrasing),
“Theenk of thee leetle illegal Mexican cheeldren!”
Good to see the Rublicans coming together to endorse their presumptive nominee.
Because Hitlery–the REAL enemy.
Conservatives are hard working, religious, non boat rocking people. They occasionally need a brash fighter to stick up for them. Many are looking to trump to clean up DC. I have my doubts he can succeed at that but I hold out hope. I feel DC may just be a reflection of what the citizenry has become in this once great land.
Please put all thoughts of Ben Carson involved in a Trump administration far, far away.
He’s an excellent brain surgeon and for all I know, a great neighbor. But he is nuttier then last years’ fruitcake. If Trump were to pick him, I would seriously be questioning his judgment across the board.
Trump needs a VP that can work the gears of Congress-I still like Newt the best. It sure would be two powerful egos-if they could focus on the country, we could see some powerful ideas and policies coming out.
Uummm. . .. ok. And this makes a difference, how? As spoken by one who has been irrelevant for too long.
The VP candidate has to be someone nobody wants as President. This since JFK.
