Ah, Count Floyd, Vampire. RIP.

Enjoyed SCTV. When comedy was funny.

Monster Chiller Horror Theater was the best with Joe Flaherty as Count Floyd. With the tag line, “Ooh, it’s a scary one kids.”, my wife and I some friends would stay up late on Friday nights and watch SCTV and laugh our asses off back in the late 70’s and early 80’s.

I think Joe once appeared in a SCTV skit wearing a wooden barrel, maybe held up by ropes. He probably at least had his underpants on, but other than that, just a barrel. That’s one image I remember, but I could be wrong. It could just be my imagination. Does anybody else remember a skit like that?

I think Joe was also in the Groove Tube movie, 1973 or so. Maybe that’s when he wore a barrel.

SCTV had a great cast and I thought he and the characters he played were the best. Man that was a good show.

He played a Russian in Stripes….”Chicago, Bang,Bang!!”
Which is even funnier now, even though He was referring to Capone then.

Time machine soon please I want to go back…

RIP Joe Flaherty; comedy is dead as well.
4
RIP, Joe.
I really enjoyed your comedy, even when not recreationally medicated.
1
didn’t he also play Johnny Cavaliero, the owner of the station … always wore a white suit & fedora?
3
Actually, it was Guy Caballero.
2
Funny guy!
2
Crabcakes – Yes, he did – always trying to rein in star Johnny Larue (John Candy) . Can’t forget that Monster Chiller Horror Theater on SCTV had the cheesiest low budget 3 D effects ever, always funny. May he Rest in Peace, Amen.
2
Monster Chiller Horror Theater was the best parody and satire of creature features ever.

Guy Caballero in a wheelchair – “Respect, my boy, RESPECT!!”
A great comic actor that was part of a FABULOUS comedy company. Beat the snot out of SNL in its day!! RIP Joe. You were one of the GREAT ones!
