Baseball player, color commentator, one of the best

Just heard the news on the radio. He always seemed like one of the nicest guys on TV…just a genial, genuine nice guy. RIP Mr. Garagiola.
Garagiola had the attributes needed to be considered one of the greats.
He had a large audience for many years.
He was entertaining, knowledgeable, likeable.
And most important of all he was not annoying.
Summer Saturdays…1960’s…Willy style…Get up early, go to the park and roust up a baseball game….continue to play until your tired and sweaty then go home for lunch….Make a bologna and mayo sandwich on wonder bread, then turn on Saturday afternoon baseball hosted by Curt Gowdy and Joe Garagiola….Life was beautifull…
