In the early 80’s, I worked at a car repair shop in Riverside CA.
Mr. Penniman brought his car in for repairs. I didn’t recognize him, but one of the mechanics did.
Mr. P carried a bible and was a very nice man. He lived in the rural area west of Riverside known as Jurupa Hills.
Thanks Mr. P for all the entertainment! Godspeed sir!

RIP. Nice to remember when pop music didn’t suck.

I loved the way he imitated Michael J. Fox playing the guitar on his knees.

Many miles.
Many miles since the 50s.
Always hits with a sharp lightening bolt of empty loneliness whenever hearing news like this…even after many miles down the road, a stark reminder of mortality.
RIP…RIP…

GOOD GOLLY….RIP Little Richard!

I always thought Leon Russell’s tribute to Little Richard was simply spectacular. And I think it fits now.
RIP, Little Richard, and thank you for shaping my musical tastes so long ago…
Little Richard was an original. A-bop-bop, a-loo-mop, a-lop-bop-bop and RIP.

One of the most complicated people probably there was, well at least in pop culture? To the point he FIRED Jimi Hendrix, while playing geetar in LR’s band, for being…get this…a showboater!!!
He did not like the way ‘he played with his teeth” and told him to stop! True.
In that vid, the look he gives at @1:18 is GREAT. And he barely looked DOWN to play!
RIP to a gifted musician artist.

Man oh man what a true original.

A true legend of Rock and Roll.

I was at a Little Richard concert with a large group of girls when Little Richard invited another girl and I to dance on the stage. Everyone at the concert was up dancing.
We rocked out that night and got great applause after he thanked us! He was very nice.
Sad to see he’s gone.

CRAZY DUDE. Way ahead of his time.

A true classic all-American talent and rock and roll pioneer. Yes his music was fun. A throwback to a more innocent and honest time. Godspeed Little Richard

Requiescat in Pace Little…. As stated above, Godspeed!

Whatever you do, do not look up what he offered up to Buddy Holly…not pretty and Peggy Sue was not involved.
Okay, so they were young at the time…
And that was the mid-late 50’s?
Glad he made it out of addiction and to Redemption.
That helicopter scene from Predator will keep him alive forever.

He seemed like a pretty cool guy. God Speed dude.
The guy helped make Rock and Roll what it is. What a life.
Black & white film with the same split for on stage and audience.
Bill Hailey (The Comets) 1:18 – 1:20 ?
I loved Pat Boone tryING to cover his records, what voice.
Little Richard singing the National Anthem in the movie “Mystery Alaska” is always how I’ll remember him. 😊
In the late 70’s to the 90’s he tried preaching in So Cal. got lots of middle aged fan to come, at least 1 time. Forgot the church; but not AME.
Reading his bio on the LA Times was fascinating. A man who experienced a lot of tragedy, suffered addiction and sexuality conflicts and struggle to live a righteous life. https://www.latimes.com/obituaries/story/2020-05-09/little-richard-dead
I’m sure Hollywood has already or will again screw up it up to promote their own values.
A really great early record, from about 1951, I think. https://youtu.be/aHtR3PhNVsM
