For some reason, the sound of that made me think they must have been pretty close.

Nice acapella. What’s with the incense, somebody cut the cheese?

And it’s a yes from me!
Merry Christmas all. Hope your Christmas was blessed.

Fancy that- no auto tune. Turns out a ‘joke’ band from yester year has more musical talent than anything the industry is churning out today.

Always liked the Monkees, Last Train to Clarksville was the first “pop” song I learned to play on the guitar.
Their Christmas shows were always funny.
Deck the Halls, “Don we now our gay apparel”, with mugging, was hilarious.
This was back when Gay, wasn’t all that common, when talking about fags.

Spanish carol from the 1500’s.
Had to look it up.Who knew the Monkees
could sing in Spanish.

The Monkees started out as a “joke band,” four actors hired to play a pop group in a television show. Nesmith and Tork had music experience; Jones and Dolenz not so much although all of then could sing. At some point – after their second number one album – they decided to be a real band which, after a couple of interruptions, only lasted about 50 years.
For some reason, I found this story inspiring. My kids know the Monkees only as a 60s era band whose music is still played on the airways. Although the television show was only on a couple of years, all four were always known as Monkees. Nesmith in particular became successful in other endeavors, including music videos, but he eventually resigned himself to being a perpetually known as a Monkee.
There are worse legacies than being involved with a group that has entertained and brought back memories to millions of people over decades.
“It’s a 1556 Spanish Christmas carol called Ríu Ríu Chíu, sung in old Spanish, heavily religious in tone, with apparently some Catalan words in its lyrics.”
@RADIOATIONMAN/HAM/CB –
“…Who knew the Monkees
could sing in Spanish….”
If you noticed Peter and Davey smiling (almost laughing) when Mickey sang his two solos in Spanish – almost as if they were surprised he could do it also.
It was a pretty song.

@Anonymous – and then there was this episode also:
Sorry to hijack the Monkees’ beautiful performance with Andy Griffith, but this is such a classic. And besides, the devil (aka Anonymouse) made me do it.

And now I’m playing rent-a-cop with a puter that blocks Boobtube so will have to wait till tomorrow to check those out…
Barney was a great character in that show without him the interplay what have been nothing.
