Rivian lays off 10% of workforce as EV pricing pressure mounts

Tech Crunch:
Rivian is laying off 10% of its salaried workforce in a bid to cut costs in an increasingly tough market for electric vehicles, putting even more pressure on its future, more affordable EV called the R2. A limited number of non-manufacturing hourly employees will also be cut, founder and CEO RJ Scaringe said in a companywide email.

This is the third round of layoffs for the EV company since July 2022, when Rivian cut 6% of its workforce. The company cut another 6% of jobs in February 2023. more

  1. Yeah I parked next to one the other day and I didn’t know what a Rivian was. It is one butt ugly vehicle for sure.

Similarly I get a belly laugh when I go to the Sheetz seeing all of those Tesla’s sitting idly for hours on end at the coal fired charging station saving the environment.

    Sheep.

  2. Truly one of the UGLIEST TRUCKS I have ever seen on the road (only because I’ve never seen a Tesla truck yet). The black hole of stupidity and monetary insanity is only so deep. Time to stop feeding it.

  3. The auto industry is so competitive and that competition has produced such amazing results over time.
I remember my first car, a 1984 Honda Accord, that had power everything and would get almost 40mpg with the A/C on, run by a four-banger with a stick shift. But it was built like a beer can.

Autos today are fuel-efficient, packed with safety features and luxuries. But the goddamned politicians are legislating against them every way they can. Do the roads need to be packed with oversized vehicles carrying single passengers? No, but pretending the laws of Physics can be bullied by MORONS like AlGOre, Horseface and asskissing, unelected EU tyrants is beyond idiotic.
