The Republican National Committee announced Thursday that Jacksonville, Fla., has been selected to host President Donald Trump’s re-nomination celebration after North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper told the committee it could not hold a full-scale event due to coronavirus restrictions.

  1. The left is melting down because Trump has a covid release form required when you get tickets to his new events. They claim that is an admission he is trying to get people sick. Sounds like a sound business practice. I’ve had to sign them to get into some businesses as of late.

  2. I thought the whole idea of moving the convention was to punish North Carolina for its intransigence? By allowing the first day to remain in NC, you are rewarding them with one day worth of booked hotel rooms and conventioneer revenue, then inconveniencing everyone by making them move to another venue completely out of state. Couldn’t the RNC secure Jacksonville for the whole shebang?

  3. Graceia, those contracts are still being breached. The convention goes 3 days, the RNC is doing business in NC for just one day, then moving to Jacksonville.

    > I read that they had contracts there they were unwilling to break – can you not imagine the lawsuits if they did?

There is no law that requires you to use the facilities you pay for. They can, easily, avoid any lawfare by covering the contracts they’ve already signed. And leaving them empty.

But, Republicans, “Never let an opportunity to cuck go to waste.”
