Romney’s Really Changed His Tune On Trump

Well, he’s pretending, anyway.

DAILY CALLER: GOP Utah Senate candidate Mitt Romney is changing his tune on President Donald Trump from where he was one year ago.

Trump endorsed Romney late Monday evening, giving the former failed presidential candidate “full support and endorsement.”

Romney responded almost immediately, thanking the president for his kind words and for backing him the upcoming election.

“Thank you Mr. President for the support. I hope that over the course of the campaign I also earn the support and endorsement of the people of Utah,” Romney tweeted late Monday evening.

Romney’s statement Monday is strikingly different from ones he has previously made about the president.  MORE HERE

  1. Opportunistic weasel.

Romney hopes to become McCain 2.0.

The Uniparty wlll position him as the GOPe White Knight to split the 2020 vote and throw the election to the Dems.
    Again.

  2. He was against the wall. When I first saw the President’s tweet, I was troubled, then I remembered the chess game. He doesn’t trust Romney, he just made Romney contradict himself and prove the phony that he is. I think I’m getting the gist of it.

  3. Romney kissed Trumps ring when Trump became POTUS elect.

Romney will be stronger on pro life, strong on defending the USA and I have no idea where he will come down on the wall. I’m sure it will come up during the debating process.

Unless he dies in a car crash (I’m leaving out a ‘mugging that went wrong’ because, by god we are not democrats) he will win. He won’t be a McCain but he won’t be a Senator Lee either. He will be another Hatch.

Translation- could be better, could be worse as senators go.

  4. Mittens is smart enough to know that pols need to climb on the trump train or get run over by it. Whether or not he stays the course after his election or not remains to be seen. We all know he’s wishy washy but he’s not a dummy either.
    Time will tell.

  5. Romney really is just a nerd kid fool. Trump is toying with him… again… because he knows Romney has no street smarts… at all. A Republican can’t win in national election or a purple statewide election unless they’re a brawler because the democrats are such dirty motherfuckers. Trump many have many flaws, but he fights the goddamn asshole democrats tooth and nail when they pull their usual shit. Romney was way too much of a pussy to even consider such things. He’d rather parrot democrat talking points against his own party like that asshole Flake.

  6. Moochman,

Romney could have stayed on the “Nevertrump” trail and he would still win in Utah. As VDH said: Romney is an honorable person. He has no skeletons in his closet. He is a true believing Mormon which means he probably believes things that most people here would have a hard time determining if it was more or less crazy than what L Ron Hubbard followers believe but regardless they know for sure he is going to hell. But on the up side you will not find anyone (not his wife) claiming they had sex with him or did blow with him or that he is a closet alcoholic or that he his sexting anyone of any age. For Utah- that all of these points are a win. If in Romney’s heart he was a Nevertrumper he could hold that stance and win in a landslide.

What I’m driving at is I don’t know why he changed his stance on Trump. Can can think of positive reasons and I can think of weasel reasons. Let me put it this way- I can’t stand McCain for what he did ans is doing as a Senator. I’ll be mad at Romney if he turns into a McCain but until then I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

For the record- he multiple homes and has had a home in Ut since before he was Gov of Mas. At least I’m willing to bet money on that- I could be wrong but I don’t it. So calling him a “carpet baggier” is not fair or accurate. Utah, for most Mormons is like Israel for Jewish people. A Mormon with a lot of money is going to have a home in Utah. A Mormon who just has a paycheck, giving the chance, generally speaking, will move to Utah. Don’t ask me to explain it but I live in a place called where the locals call it “little Utah” and it is not uncommon for people to pack up and move to… Utah.

  7. Pelopidas, I agree that a wait and see attitude is the best choice, much better than electing some idiotic liberal. I also agree that Romney is a honorable and honest man, however some of his ideas suck. Remember Romneycare was the framework for Obozocare. Highly idealistic endeavors but not achievable or financially viable without taxpayer assistance.

  8. Let me give a more optimistic view.

What if Romney now buys into the Trump agenda (which is really our agenda and President Trump is vocalizing it), and he wrangles Senate Majority away from Mitch, and really gets all the Republicans to jump onboard the Trump Train?

This could be a good thing.

    But I am skeptical.

  9. Moochman, agreed 100%. Candidate Romney promised to sign an Obmacare waiver for the nation. His come back to Obama was Romneycare was a state level program and each state should be allowed to figure it out for themselves.

Unlike Reid I think Romney will be grounded in his faith and the power won’t go to his head.
