  10. Surviving spouses usually die within weeks or months after the first one passes away. My mom and dad were both gone within 3 months of my dad passing away in Feb. 2018 and my mom 3 months later in May 2018. I may not like Jimmy Carter personally, but may God be with him in his time of grief.

  12. I don’t know how long she had dimentia, but it doesn’t sound nearly as long os some I am familiar with… which is a good thing! I don’t wish that on anyone regardless of politics… with about 4 or 5 exceptions.

  18. I never saw Jimmy Carter as well meaning, but misguided. My inclination is his actions were motivated by malicious intent. I don’t know anything about his wife, and that is as it should be. As far as her passing, mox nix to me. I’ve never been one to attach any sentimental feelings to people based on their celebrity status.

  39. Hospice as a diagnosis is more about Medicare than anything else. Some folks actually do better because they get better care, get taken off all their deadly prescription drugs, etc. Death is inevitable for all of us. The only difference with a hospice order is that a doctor thinks it’s happening in 6 months or less, but that can be renewed over and over if need be.

  44. Jimmy Carter had mortgages up to 18% fixed, 30 years. Why? Runaway inflation just like the current asshole. Reagan and Art Laffer turned it around in about six months. Thru supply side economics. Go back and tell your professor he’s a dumb ass.

  60. Carter did NOT raise interest rates to 18%…Paul Volker did. And thank god. That drove savings rates through the roof, providing the capital in savings that drove the prosperity of the 80s. Want to blame anyone for the economic mess, blame Nixon for ending the gold standard and the feds for massive inflationary spending and money printing. Biden didn’t raise interest rates either…Powell did. And blame artificially suppressed interest rates beginning under Bush combined with rampant bipartisan spending sprees ever since. Both of these historical calamities were a decade or more in the making…with bipartisan support. ONLY the free market should set the cost of money (interest rates). END THE FED.
