Golden retrievers unfortunately are like that and will love you to death. They are great pets but lousy watchdogs.

If you want a good watch dog get a goose, or better still, geese.

Same style my Golden used. The only time you’d worry if he was inside and you knocked on the door, then all hell broke loose. If he could smell you and see you, he was fine.

ChickenCheeks, my uncle had a watch goose on his small farm in N. Idaho. That goose was very loud and nasty when he got pissed off and started chasing and honking at you if you were on his property. That goose was one of the best watch dogs that he ever had. Poor goose ended up as Thanksgiving dinner one year.

If you wanna change that dog into a real watchdog, get a watch and put it on his front left leg. Drugs transform people in the worst ways. They would kill their own mom to get high.
