Russia-Ukraine War Averted?

Zero Hedge

Officials from Russia and Ukraine met in Paris on Wednesday and held what Moscow described as “tough” talks. Despite whatever difficulties there were, the two sides agreed that the ceasefire in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region must be upheld.

German and French officials were also present for the meeting, which lasted eight hours. The four countries started holding talks together after the Donbas war started in 2014 in a forum known as the Normandy format. More

  1. Ukraine gotta give up the Donbas?
Maybe Putin will trade em a bag of magic beans?
You can bet your ass there’s nothing equitable about it.

  2. Nothing can happen unless Dementia Joe can take credit for forcing Putin to back down in the face of his steely resolve and forceful order for more Chocolate ice cream, and his explanation of how the lessons he taught Corn Pop worked wonders just before he pinned Tara Reade against the wall, and how Jill loves it when he shifts that Corvette just before he asks Humper how to deal with those greedy Ukrainian thieves, and he hears from his…… uh…….mmmm…..sorry…….well never mind…..

  3. Germany sent Ukraine 5000 helmets so that’s probably scared Putin far more than threats from the Pretender of the US.

Why the hell should we care about expanding NATO? Most NATO countries are hiding under the skirts of the US. There isn’t room for the ones already there. We don’t need more.

The only borders xiden should be concerned about are Mexico and Canada.

  4. NATO doesn’t understand Russian history, apparently. Russians like buffer zones against crazy Europeans. Pretty simple. Can’t blame them. I’d want one, too, if I lived there.

Crisis goes away if NATO agrees to stop. Sorry, Joe. BTW, you really should listen to Putin. He’s been making more sense than you for years.

  5. The first thing to understand about Ukraine is that it should be spelt Ookraine, because that is how it is pronounced. The first letter of Ukraine is the Russian “у” which is an adverb meaning away. Ergo, Ookraine has the connotation of “the far away place.”

The point being, Ookraine never had a distinct national identity. Whatever it was prior, it was absorbed into Russia by Peter the Great 300 years ago. It only became a nation when the Bullshitviks created the bogus Ukrainian Socialist Republic in 1921. Even at that point, The Crimea was a part of Russia until the mid-1950’s when Khrushchev reassigned it to the Ukraine, as part of a deal to get Ukraine to support his bid to become General Secretary.

When drawing up these borders in 1920, the Bolsheviks were looking to counter the overwhelming size of the Russian Republic, so they included areas in the East that were clearly Russian, so now you have the Donbass (Don River Basin) conundrum. Then the USSR fell apart, and next thing you know, Ookraine is a independent nation for the first time, with sacred borders that must be defended, even if it blows up the word

  6. Averted, not yet! When someone is pointing a gun at you, it’s more like a terrorist hostage situation. Giving into his demands/Putin, not happening. Got some Putin lovers that think differently, maybe they should just move to their motherland then.
