IW: Travis Co. Sheriff Sally Hernandez is facing removal from office after defying Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s call to end “sanctuary city” policies which aid criminal aliens.
Hernandez, whose jurisdiction includes Austin, the capital of Texas, has rejected Abbott’s request to reverse her refusal to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement except in limited circumstances, which Abbott says is hypocritical.
“First, you claim you have no legal power to comply with ICE detainers. That proves too much, of course, because by your own admission, Travis County Sheriff’s Office will honor some ICE detainers, for example when the alien is charged with or convicted of capital murder,” Abbott wrote. “You have the exact same legal authority to honor ICE detainers for capital murder cases as you do for other crimes that you personally deem unworthy of enforcement.”
In addition, Abbott pointed out that ICE also issues detainers for illegal aliens with felony records – including murder. MORE

So far I’m liking Abbot, a definite improvement over the last several governors I think. I particularly like his ideas regarding a convention of the states and hope POTUS gets behind this. It’s the ONE way to drain the swamp and make sure it stays drained.
Arrest her fat treasonous ass, lock her up until she figures out she is supposed to enforce the law. Then fire her. She’s useless. Strip her of her credentials while you’re at it. Like minded officials will straighten up real fast.

The sheriff was elected by the people of Austin, which is one of the few liberal strongholds in Texas. They made a poor choice with the sheriff, and they’ll find backing her is not a good thing.
Austin has UT there and there are over 50,000 students. Yes, they vote there too. They should be barred because they have turned Austin into lefty land. It’s not the only school either.
