…our Claudia.

I’ve known this was coming.

Here are the facts-

Surgery May 18th

Lumbar Spinal Fusion

5 vertebrae

Inpatient for 3-4 days

But Claudia is determined (and a bit stubborn.) Here is what she says-

– hope to be home by Friday.

Recovery is supposed to last 3 months, but I plan to do my walking (what they say is the best thing to promote the bones to graft onto the screws) several times a day and reduce that to one month.

I won’t push it, but I’m not going to sit around all day, either.

Already, I hate the fact that my sisters are going to have to pick up the slack in the house, yard and garden work. The part that makes me sad? I won’t be able to let the cats in my bedroom from the night before surgery until the incision heals. Well, I’ll just have to hurry up and heal, right?!

Yes, hurry up, already!

  4. Yes, prayers for a very favorable outcome. You’re lucky. My doctors don’t even want to mess with my cervical spine, as I type this with one numb arm.

  5. Claudia is everybody’s favorite animal lover and person healer. Everyone will be awaiting news that her two cats are back in Claudia’s bedroom. Jameson sends his best wishes, and so do I.

  11. I hope and pray this surgery not only heals your pain (some of us know back pain) and you heal fast, but also helps you physically beyond your imagination. Follow the plan laid out for you. I know it is frustrating but do it by the book. God Bless you. We are all praying for you.

Dear Lord, as we glorify Your name on this Lord’s day, we also uplift our sister in Christ, Claudia to You today that You may hear our entreaties and meet the needs of one who seeks healing in an age in which men have corrupted it. Lord, our sister has been a moral center to those she has touched with her words, stalwart in her praise of You, and a light to all of us bringing a cheerful heart to our somber fellowship that can only come from You, and we thank You and praise You for letting Your Spirit shine through her each day.

    Lord we ask that You touch her with Your healing virtue, that You ease her pain and numb her wounds and comfort her heart and her mind with Your Spirit that she may return, whole and healed, as a testament to Your Glory and a tribute to Your Mercy. Lord guide her earthly healers as they exercise the gifts that You have given them, give them wisdom to do that which You have made them to learn, let them work as one with skill and thouroghness to be able to do that which needs to be done with no errors and in the most perfection that it is possible for Man to attain, and walk around her hosptial bed to guide them and guard her to the best possible outcome she may have in this world.

    Lord please gift her with a swift recovery as You minimize her pain and speed the TRUE healing which the doctors of this world can only begin, knit her bones and strenthen her muscles that she may return to us on the platform You have provided her with a testimony to You as her Ultimate Physician and as her Lord and Savior.

    We thank You and praise You for all that you do and for the healing message that is already on the way, in the merciful name of Jesus, Amen.

  16. Get to stepping Claudia! It works in the healing process. Do you have a FitBit? It keeps me motivated to reach the 10,000 step mark. I’ll pray for you….

  17. I had reconstruction surgery in May a year ago on a really iffy shoulder.
    It’s roaring back & on a weightlifting program now.
    Praying that yours is every bit as successful.
    And yes, a lot of therapy a little at a time works wonders.

  20. Dittos to Supernightshade’s prayer for you Claudia; I couldn’t top that prayer if I spent a month working on it.
    You have created a channel of love, (of pets / of emotional healing / of nature); the least we can do is return some of that love to you.

  27. I have two rods and 6 screws holding my back together. The first week or two was the worst. I used to sleep in a bunk bed with a belt tied around the upper railing to help me get up. Its been 14 years and I’m glad I went through it. I used to carry crutches in my car when I worked third shift, fearing if the car broke down I wouldn’t be able to walk too far. Pain free now. Follow the doctors advise and don’t take risky chances. I felt it was a year before I was back to not thinking about my back when doing things. You’ll make it.

  42. Thank You Lord for our online community! We have such good-hearted people.
    Please Lord be with Claudia and the surgical team as she undergoes this procedure. Protect Claudia and allow her to heal completely and swiftly. Also, Lord, please be with her family as they aid her in recovery.
    We are truly blessed to have these people in our lives.

  45. Thank you, every one! I will read these once again as my sister and BIL take me to the hospital. I hope you all know how special you are. My heart rejoices knowing I’m being brought to God by such fine people.

    May the grace of our Lord be with Claudia. Guiding her to a speedy recovery.
