Scientists warn looming volcano blast in Iceland to mark new era that will last for centuries

“…it’s all part of a 1000-year cycle of volcanic activity that’s getting ready to kick off.”

  1. Global warming we’re told. Icelanders didn’t learn a thing about building a civilization near volcanic activity. Pompeii residents found out the hard way, and sadly Icelanders as well.

  2. If taxes are raised high enough we can minimize the worst of the effects. If they are raised even higher the effects can be turned around to being a net positive. However, it would take near 100% tax rates. It would still be worth it.

  3. “Nobody believes you guys anymore”

Exactly. They’ve been telling us for ten years Jelly Stone was going to blow and we’d all be dead or living in a nuclear winter. But every time some island in the South Pacific shoots it’s load they’re surprised. I think maybe they have their map up side down.

  4. WE can appease Vulcan by sacrificing (yeah, I know, for the greater good) democrats and rinos to these angry volcanoes. And blue haired millennials. And anyone who says, “Like like like like like….”

  5. Funny that they can’t predict a single volcanic or seismic event but pretend to predict volcanic and seismic events for the next hundred years.

Hubris, anyone? Tell us, date and time, when the Yellowstone event will occur.
    Otherwise, shut the fuck up.

  6. Volcanoes affect weather more than anything as they block out a lot of sunlight. Crops will be affected, air travel and other activities.
With available technology it won’t be as bad as centuries past but it will give the climate commies more excuses to try and grab power.
    Hopefully these scientists are wrong….again.

I’ll suggest that they know the price, and are good with it.

You don’t hear them crying about it.
    ——————-

Well, some of them are crying about it. Just like those in Maui, crying because of no insurance. 40% of Icelanders in the towns evacuated aren’t insured for that they’re going through right now. The ones insured (the guy I listened to), said he’s not worried since he’s fully covered. The power plant is what they must save. If that goes so does Iceland.

  8. “Time’s finally up. We can get ready for another few hundred years of eruptions on the Reykjanes,”

Oh. Just the Reykjanes. In Iceland. Not all over the whole world, then? Somebody needs to calm down.

  9. Beachmom – with sufficient vulcanism, I think the climate Commies would be silenced and replaced with ice age Nazis.

Throw-in a rapid reduction of the Earth’s geomagnetic field, eventual magnetic field reversal, severe solar CME’s, etc., and we’re looking at mass hysteria and dogs and cats living together. It’s our 12,000 year cycle.

  10. (KR put Geology hat on)

It’s a shield volcano on the ocean plate spreading boundary. The plates grow at ~2 cm year, and basalt lava flows up to fill in. Iceland sits on a mantle plume, it’s literally the reason the island is there. Without the mantle plume, it would be empty ocean. Been this way for millions of years. Will be there millions of years after we’re dead.

Anyone have odds on the power plant? I’m thinking it’s toast.

  11. Yass Yass, disaster’s coming, give all your freedoms and money to the government and everything will be all right. Heard it before, twice times and then some. Shut the pie hole until you regain some credibility… in about a thousand years… or so.
