ConservativeTribune– As the funerals for the servicemen killed in the Chattanooga terrorist shooting begin, the president has made it clear that he has no plan to alter his schedule to be there. One of the men running to replace him in the White House, however, has dropped his campaign plans to attend one of the funerals.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a 2016 Republican front-runner, announced he would be canceling his campaign events for Saturday to attend the funeral of Marine Sgt. Carson Holmquist, one of the five men killed in last week’s attacks.
Damn. I was a Marine Sergeant once, a long time ago. I’ve had a rich, full life; I wish I could have died in his place. He looks like a damn fine kid with a lot to live for.
Walker has class, something Obungles and his ape of a wife will never have.
God Bless this Marine
he should show up on his hog, armed and stand between those Westbororo Baptist sickos and the funeral procession and say, not on my watch skippy!!!
I love the idea but…that would make it all about Scott Walker not about Sgt. Holmquist & his grieving family.
Worst duty I ever had was a burial detail – three months TAD. Hammered every night for those three months. Walker didn’t have to do this – good on him
Boy, If one of those murdered service men had been BLACK or muzzie, BrObama would have been in a real quandary. To that a55hole, only BLACK lives matter.
It’s like a breath of fresh air when a pol does the right thing.
No, because he would be a serviceman. Wackjob activist and terrorists have higher ranking.
Hey can’t read this…..cause I have to look at love honey./com first
t
And testostrone leaves my wife speechless
struandouglasrobertson — I agree.
Walker should have shown up unannounced, after he spoke with the family.
Walker’s campaign manager and press secretary did him no favors by announcing Walker’s attendance.
Bad Form, disrespectful, poor decision.
It “is” about Sgt. Holmquist and his grieving family and friends.
Rest in Peace young Marine.
I dunno. Any governor worth his salt should attend this type of funeral. It used to be SOP. No “suspending campaign activities for the day” BS either.
We don’t have any evidence that Walker didn’t speak to the family before the announcement he’d be attending. Considering that Sgt. Holmquist is the Governor’s constituent & further considering his public deportment up to this point, I seriously doubt he didn’t receive the Holmquist family’s invitation to honor their son.
As to the actions of his campaign manager & press secretary – I don’t see how the announcement could have been avoided – the Governor had planned activities in New Hampshire & North Carolina. It certainly would have been bad form & a poor decision to stand up all the people that were waiting for him at those destinations without explanation.
