NOAA in the Great Lakes supports inter-agency search for WWII aircraft
Did you know that there are about 120 World War II era aircraft lying at the bottom of Lake Michigan? The Navy used these aircraft to train and certify pilots to take off and land from aircraft carriers during World War II. U.S. Naval operations along Lake Michigan, one of the Great Lakes, began in 1923. Between 1923 and 1942, operations expanded as the Navy built hangars, airfields, and landing strips across the village of Glenview, Illinois.
By 1942, the Navy had a robust presence on the shores of Lake Michigan. With the U.S. entrance into World War II, the Navy needed a location to train carrier pilots. The growing threat of enemy vessels and mines along the Pacific and Atlantic coastlines and an already strong Naval presence in the area made Lake Michigan the safest location for carrier training. more here
Biden insiders say Biden will not be going to convention.
Does anyone think he will debate?
Not a chance he’ll debate and Mittens and all the cucks will say he’s doing the right thing. It is unlikely we will ever see Biden speak live on camera before the election. Because that’s the way the democrats want it and they always get what they want. Because there is nobody to stop them.
RSHK,
Go peddle your ass elsewhere!
Got him. Thanks.

Huh. I’m a WWII buff and I hadn’t heard of that training program OR those ships. Pretty interesting article, made more poignant by the fact that young people were taking these huge risks for and were united in fighting FOR this Country, and now they seem only to HATE her, mostly because they’re bored…
…maybe an Israeli style military service minimum SHOULD be mandatory, give the kids a greater appreciation of what ot takes to defend the Nation AND give ’em something to DO that DOESN’T involve looking for fake racism or contemplating whether or not boys have penises on your way to throw frozen water bottles at the police ..
Years ago a couple of these planes were recovered and sent to the Pensacola naval air museum. There, they recreated the underwater resting place from which they came. It’s one of my favorite displays.
The planes at the bottom were from oikoys who dud not pass certification?
Landing on a carrier is bot fun and not easy, from what I have seen. Had a Avalons Avaivator attending our church, he left for a cruise and never came back, Died during a nite time carrier flight ops.

A woman that worked at the local store used to fly Spitfires from Windsor Ontario up the river to Lake Huron and back for shake down runs after leaving the factory. Her face would light up telling stories about mock dog fighting over the lake and flying along side Liberators.

Switzerland has mandatory military service. I have seen a documentary that after training, they take the rifle home with them.
Switzerland has a stunningly high rate of gun ownership — here’s why it doesn’t have mass shootings.

So much great history! Thanks for the article.
