Windstar Cruises announced Friday it’s pulling its headquarters out of downtown Seattle and moving it to Miami when its lease is up in June next year.
Because of the pandemic, the cruise industry is on hold for a second year in a row.
Some people said this latest announcement is a big letdown for the City of Seattle.
The cruise industry in Seattle generates about $900-million a year for the local economy and it creates about 5,500 jobs according to the Port of Seattle. More
Maybe they could build a zoo, and populate it with anqueefers. THAT would be a big tourist draw (so long as they’re GLASS enclosures, so the monkeys can’t fling their poo!). 😛
Who wants go offshore to shop and dine in filthy downtown Seattle? Leave your car parked there while you cruise to Alaska? A homeless person will be living in it. Retreat to your cabin while AntiFa marches in the streets!
The tourism romance is over with the Pacific NW.
Last month I had to go to downtown Seattle to exchange a gift. It’s like a war hit it.
Never again.
“The city has also been on the forefront of the pandemic with local officials taking quick action to help stop the spread of COVID-19.”…… with 83000+ cases and nearly 1400 dead? I’m not sure “stopping the spread” means what you think it means.
I wouldn’t go there to puke!
Back in the old days when we could go visit the grandbabies in Central Washington, we would bypass Seattle as much as possible hitting 405 in Everett and going down the east side of the lake. We have even taken to coming back across Stevens Pass and even bypassing Everett as much as possible.
The only time I would go to Seattle is if my son were in town and I went down to see him. Then I would stay on North Aurora and go no further into town than Ballard. The only time I went further than that was to take my last drive through the Battery Street Tunnel before it closed.

Windstar, voting with their feet (so to speak).
Windstar is making a strong statement…..Good for them.
