Selfie-Seekers Warned To Leave Wally The Walrus Alone On His Pontoon

An arctic walrus drew attention this summer when he decided to spend his holiday off the coast of Ireland. Named Wally, the huge animal gained a reputation for commandeering anchored boats, sinking two small craft, before wildlife experts provided him with a floating “couch” to do his sunbathing. Here

Now dim wits have begun not only getting too close to Wally for their own safety, but actually risking their lives stepping onboard Wally’s raft with the gigantic (and dangerous) animal. Here

  1. Because he has those tusks just to look cool.
    Tourists are dumb.
They come here to Maine and see the huge waves crashing on the rocks and think it would be cool to go down there.
Almost every year we lose a couple.

  2. Beachmom: Same thing here at Crater Lake NP. Every year some jackasses ignore the signs and have to stand close to the edge with a 1000 foot drop off, and every year, search and rescue has to risk THEIR lives to retrieve these morons. I have no sympathy for the dead or maimed idiots.

  3. @Beachmom, same here at our California coast. There are very steep, unstable bluffs with rocks below. Just yesterday a woman fell to her death getting to close to the edge. Another common last activity by tourists is underestimating the power of the ocean and every year there are several drownings.

  4. @Beachmom,

You mean like Thunderhole? I saw it a couple years ago. Impressive sound. I think anyone foolish enough to go in the water there would be smashed to death against the rocks.

  5. They must be liberals, because I don’t know of anyone else who would be stupid enough to get close enough to a dangerous wild animal to get a daring photo to share with their equally brain-dead friends.
