This is an update to the update.

I spoke with my son about a half hour ago. His is no longer in the ICU. He is also on regular oxygen. He was whining that they want to keep him for at least a couple more days, and he just wants to come home.

I told him to quit whining and make the best of his stay. It’s the best place for him for now. He thinks they will send him home with oxygen, but I don’t know for sure. All in all, it is great news all the way around.

I can’t thank you, and the troops enough.

  1. Such GREAT news, Shake n’ Bake! So happy for Zachery and for you and your family, Prayers will continue for him to be able to go home soon and to be on room air. (Oxygen at home is a pain but better than the alternative)

    …I always loved it when, after a surgery, my son got hateful and crabby.

    Because he was ALIVE and feeling well enough to be hateful and crabby.

    …I may have taught him that Dad LIKES hateful and crabby, but you gotta take the good with the bad and, having held his limp body when he was younger and in such straights that he didn’t CARE enough to whine about anything, I’ll take the whining over THAT any ol’ day…

    May the Lord keep him OUT of the hospital where he wants to be for the rest of his life.

    …cute nurse=RED FLAG.

    hospitals are VERY pragmatic places that WILL use biology to advantage.

    …so keep in mind when they send the “cute nurse” that it’s easier to pass a catheter through a straight path, just sayin’…

  22. You can thank the IOTW crowd, but don’t forget to thank Him, your Heavenly Father. We’re just the supplicants, and He, in His Infinite Mercy, has deigned to grant our petition.

    (Thank You, God, for sparing this young man’s life. May he see the wisdom in his recovery, and learn precious life lessons from this time. Amen)

    The Fly:Lorain County, 40 miles west of the Louis Stokes VA in Cleveland.

    As far as sponge baths go, it sounds like he will be ok. When i called to check up on him the other day, i joked with the nurse and asked if he still had red hair. She said “oh yes, he still has beautiful thick red hair which we all love”.

    I spent a nite in the hospital some time ago and the tall, drop dead gorgeous woman walked in my room and said with a Russian accent, I’m here to bath you. I started laughing, and asked who sent here. I just knew it was a joke that the guys from work set up. Nope. Was not a joke, she actually worked there and she either took her job very seriously, or she liked me. I was a bit freaked out. When my wife came to see me i told here, you ain’t gonna believe this….she laughed and said “well at least you have something positive to remember from you little stay”.

  29. So glad your son’s recovering. Thank you God. Was worried in the hospital when two burly East German Women’s Weight Lifting champs came in at bath time. Told them I was expecting a couple babes from the beach volleyball bathing-crew. Good thing those two didn’t understand English.
