It’s hard to believe that you couldn’t feel that this sidewalk wasn’t solid and was a bit flimsy.

Sometimes they go fast, sometimes slow, sometimes stop and go erratically.
Most of the ones I know of were on open land…at most under roads/treets. I have to admit, I can imagine that the structural strength of the road (or, in this case, the sidewalk) could hold on its own for only a short amount of time after the earth below has fallen away, and would do so suddenly, since concrete and asphalt don’t have the structural bouciness of, for example, wood.
Chinamen have smaller feet. That makes it harder to feel the ground giving way.
Did you see the people ogling the poor victims in the hole. I’m surprised they didn’t have their cell phones out filming them dying.
Oh, right. China. The peons probably don’t have cell phones.
Anyway, I would think a few of them might think to help them get out. But that probably is what living under Communism for so long does to people.

Notice they helped the girl out?
I’m surprised at how calm everyone was, like it is an everyday occurrence. If it happened here, there would be massive amounts of shouting and chaos.
Didn’t I read somewhere that Chinese flooring was bad? lol.
Aw. Seriously though, poor people.
Are you sure that’s not a video of the Chinese stock market?
There were no white people involved with the design or construction of that sidewalk.
But as third-worlders continue to (illegally) overwhelm our country with their low standards and the shoddy standards that they bring with them from the shithole known as “the old country”, don’t be surprised when this starts happening here.
Need edit button bad!
They must not be living right.
They clearly don’t use reinrcing bars in their sidewalks.
hey not riving light, either.
Good points. Without elasticity, there’s nothing much for anyone to feel as a sign of impending failure. Not much elasticity in brick, mortar, concrete unless there’s rebar in there somewhere. I kinda doubt that the Chinese (or pretty much anybody) put rebar in sidewalks.
I couldn’t believe the onlookers didn’t immediately form a human chain laying down on their stomachs with the last person above having leverage against say the curb. Their reaction is amazingly disappointing.
Sh*t, I’m 70 and a cripped lil old lady and I would have done it.

How do you say “First floor, men’s wear” in chinese….

Chinese communists have killed tens of millions since Mao Zedong’s Long March Without Sidewalks in 1934.
Nothing to see here folks…
You can see from the vid there were no re-bars in the sidewalk…so, yeah…kablooey!
Why does there just happen to be a camera on this ONE spot. It’s like they knew and were just waiting.

Back in the early 70s, I worked construction, and we put re-bar in the sidewalks. We built schools and community centers for MD.
