POPZETTE: Even this popular consumer pick is not immune to what’s going on against our national anthem by rebellious and disrespectful players.
The NFL national anthem protests are being blamed for declining wings sales.
Sanderson Farms, one of the largest producers of chicken in the U.S., said its slumping sales were due to the football players’ demonstrations.
The company said their spot prices decreased in the past three months and were 14 percent lower than the same period in 2016, Bloomberg reported.
Joe F. Sanderson Jr., the CEO of Sanderson Farms, said retailers’ demand for the deep-fried delight was noticeably lower. “The only thing puzzling me right now is wings,” Sanderson told Bloomberg.
“We’ve been talking to our wing customers, and they’re the ones that are telling us that they’re seeing less traffic in their stores. They attribute that to the NFL.”
The company’s shares dropped 13 percent to $145.85 on Thursday, its worst since 2004. Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. and Tyson Foods, the poultry producer’s competitors, shares fell as well. READ MORE
I’m enjoying the spectacle of seeing the NFL be destroyed by their own stupidity. Keep taking a knee, jackasses. Nobody with a brain gives a shit about your “SJW cause”.
Next up: Take to the streets to protest Trump like you’re threatening and you’ll be guaranteed to have your asses to you ….maybe permanently.
The meek (restrained under pressure, which means US, the conservative armed, have about had enough of your infantile bullshit.
Chicken wings are mostly fat, esp. served Buffalo style. Fewer couch potatoes binge-eating watching NFL games is good for the nation. Trump is MAGA is so many ways! lol
What are they doing with the rest of the chickens?
Taxpayer…..they’re still around. They’re the ones that can’t pick their noses.
They are now soccer players
Huh! I will only use Miller Farms (Indiana) chickens for any chicken I cook. They are raised the Amish way.
Right now, at this very minute I have 3 vats (69 thighs total) of what will be, by tonight, deboned and strained of the aromatics) chicken soup in the freezer, most of which will be my personal Christmas gifts to our kids’ families.
This is my insurance that they won’t pull the plug on me prematurely. LOL
BTW, there is a great wing recipe out on the net for baked wings that are lightly coated with I believe baking powder, not flour, and great spices. Did them a couple years ago. Have to try to find the recipe again.
I’m sure ALL the sports bars have suffered a decline in sales.
Supermarkets are selling less beer and junk food, and people aren’t interested in the games.
Businesses who thought it would be great to be near the stadium are also suffering.
The tickets are the CHEAPEST things in the whole package. The hotels, restaurants, gas stations, EVERYONE loses when people don’t get out of their house and spend money.
Damn. I just developed the 4 winged chicken.
Story of my life.
TIL: chicken wings have a spot price.
sign of the apocolypse?

Look on the bright side!
NEXT CHALLENGE: the 4-legged chicken
Czarr…..everybody knows you can’t grow a 4 legged chicken because nobody can catch them…
Ah. The 4 legged chicken!!!! How could I have been short sighted.
The 4 legged wingless chicken. Aka. The house cat.
Don’t hate on me with the cat joke. My kitties, Ernest T and Beans are not amused.
I’ve been wondering how Sports Bars are doing, Saturday (college) business vs. their Sunday (NFL ) business?
COD, the specs for the 4 legged turkey has already been drawn- by our youngest son when he was in first grade. I still pull out the drawing periodically for a good laugh at Thanksgiving.
@PHenry (at 6:29 pm): Reminds me of a bumper sticker I once saw:
“CAT – THE OTHER WHITE MEAT”
🙂
The only thing that really worries me is the thought that people will stop eating buffalo wings. If that happens, food marketers may stop harvesting them at birth, and buffalo will be flying again. Do you realize how risky it will be for you to go outside when there are flying buffalo overhead?
The NFL is planning to make it up in watermelon sales.
