purpose of the park
The park is to be an oasis of hope where past achievements for social justice are recognized and current struggles are revealed. The park is open to all, regardless of beliefs and views, who are willing to offer open minds to seek understanding of diverse interests and values and to promote the common good. It is to be a safe haven for those feeling oppressed as well as a starting point for all to build the path to a better future. It is a place where the community intentionally can come and journey together through art, education, and dialogue to explore ways to bring justice to situations that can’t be ignored if we aspire to be a healthy and caring community.
The park interrupts the hustle and bustle of downtown to provide a place full of beauty and meaning. Through its interpretive path, the park reveals inspiring quotes to offer reflection and guidance on the meaning of social justice. Through public art installations, the park adds to the adjoining community arts campus, but with a unique focus: social justice art.
Through education programs and special exhibits, the park brings awareness to issues and allows participants to discern what constructive actions should be taken to improve our community. Instead of advocating for specific positions on major social concerns, the park’s focus is to promote awareness, understanding, and engagement so that those who are strangers can become neighbor and friend while building community, one conversation at a time.

I love this part–>
The park is open to all, regardless of beliefs and views, who are willing to offer open minds…
Interpretation:
The park is open to all, regardless of beliefs and views, as long as you’re willing to change your mind to think exactly how you’re supposed to think if you’re going to be coming to this park.
Looks like a good place to put up a couple of gun free zone signs.
Any chance there is a volcano in the area that might erupt?
They should invite Isis for tour.
Now there’s a park that I could defocate and get arrested in. 💩
This would be a good place for one of those surprise poopers to practice their favorite perversion.
LOL, I just your post JM. – Cynic. I can’t edit my info in so I’ll identify myself this way
they should leave it as it is now, a parking lot. and be done with this charade of a project. that’s a social justice park already. parking lots are usually where social justice is handed out anyway. amirite? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
And I’d be willing to bet that this social justice park is located just off of MLK Blvd.
Columbus
Sorry, I’d never go there. I’m looking for “equal justice”. Can’t stand “social justice”.
A monument to creeping Marxism.
Amazing that as little as 20 years ago if this was suggested a person would be brought in for evaluation.
Don’t go there after dark or you’ll find out that ‘social justice’ means different things to different people.
From above it looks like a snake in the grass.
clayusmcret, it looks like David Hogg’s eyebrow to me.
@Manny Neuders, friend of Inigo Montoya…

“Don’t it always seem to go,
That you don’t know what you’ve got til its gone
They faked paradise
And tore up a parking lot…”
Like any park, it will become a shooting gallery for junkies. Open market for drug dealers. A place for hookers to ply their trade. A homeless encampment. In other words, a liberal paradise.
Would it be ok to set up a table there and talk about supporting Trump’s agenda and how we might help him.
I think this would be a great location for the first iotw BBQ!
Left Coast Dan, can we haz tiki torches lol
Lets see what happens with a person walks in with a MAGA hat or a Keep America Great re-election shirt.
Soon to become a refuge for the homeless. Maybe Starbucks will open a concession here.
Dog and the homeless love leaving their feces …
Sung to the tune of, “These Are a Few of My Favorite Things.”
This is why we can’t have nice things. They ruin everything.
A park is just a park!
The description sounds a lot like it was written by any one of a number of our sarcastic readers.
