PatriotRetort: This morning, I watched the video “I’m Gonna Miss You” — a song written, recorded and produced by First Lt. Andrew Yacovone and First Lt. Justin Wright — two Army Rangers stationed in Afghanistan who formed a band called Interstate 10. As I sat weeping like a hormotional pregnant lady, I understood more vividly what these men know intrinsically. So many serve to protect this nation and fight for freedom. And some gave all.
Back when I was still financially solvent, I joined Soldier’s Angels. It’s a great charity organization that allows you to adopt a deployed soldier. You write to him or her weekly. And monthly, send them care packages. My soldiers and I even exchanged emails. I’d send them basics like toothpaste and shampoo. But I’d also send crazy stuff. When one of my soldiers was being shipped home, I sent her a box loaded with “long trip home provisions” including books to read, a big bag of pistachios, and silly string (just because).
Nope, never. I’m the only one on the block to fly the flag, even on Memorial Day.

Your comment fortifies my belief that one day we need to all gather in the same state and make our stake. Probably Idaho.
Men have always sacrificed themselves for others. To say ‘We miss you’ is to deny the sacrifice. It’s a feminine thing. Men say thank you, not we miss you. If you can’t see the feminine influence in the U S Military by this emotionalism, you won’t notice the loss of honor which comes next. Stoicism replaced by feelings.
