  6. Gotta love Jr. Brown as well as all the rest of the songs. This is real country music and Americana to boot, great stuff. Who else but IOTWR would post his, you made my day. And on the side there was The Bear flew over the ocean by Jimmie Driftwood and Old man Atom by the Sons of the Pioneers, all great songs. Snowflakes beware we blast you with this music until you get it.

  8. The kid’s current favorite is Look What I Got by Cowboy Copas. I had it on repeat all the way too/from Omak Stampede and then Kittitas Co Fair/Ellensburg Rodeo last week and it is on standby for request when I pick them up from preschool and after school since May or so.

  12. JDHasty, I listened to Look What I Got by Cowboy Copas, it’s a great country song. I always liked his biggest hit Alabam. It’s too bad that he and Patsy Cline both died together in a tragic plane crash in 1963. When I was younger I couldn’t stand Patsy Cline but as I grew older and started turning out to be like my dad I’ve grown to appreciate her music. I Fall To Pieces can make me cry if I’m in a funky mood. It’s one of her best songs as well as Crazy written by Willie Nelson. I’m looking forward to Ken Burn’s latest documentary on country music later this month on PBS, from the previews I’ve seen it looks real good.

  17. My best friend and I went to a Jerry Jeff Walker and John Prine concert at Eastern Wash. University back in the late 70’s which included Up Against The Wall Redneck Mother. They were both very good. One afternoon back in the late 70’s our local progressive FM radio station KREM 92.9 FM played a long set of redneck songs including this song as well as some Kinky Friedman singing They Don’t Make Jews Like Jesus Anymore and other redneck songs, it was great. The closest we have to progressive FM now is XM’s channel 27 Deep Tracks which still plays lots of the really good music from the 70’s including whole albums at times like they did back in the 70’s.

    I think it was Townes that got me to really listen to RWH. That and catching Austin City Limits at friends. I don’t have TV since the 1980s

  21. FWIW, sitting here in front of me is the CD case for Ranger Doug – Songs of the Sage that has been playing here for a week or two. Sons of the Pioneers is good music for traveling with kids, they all sing along and fight over whose favorite gets next play.

    Junior playing blues got me in the mood to drive to the Indians and pick up an Alec Bradley Project 40 Cigar (not super expensive, but a great smoke) and spend an hour and a half on a Saturday night slowly burning it down listening to Junior.
