Why in the world was she touring HBCUs? She’s not black. She’s not white. She’s not even brown in the usual meaning of the term. And she’s certainly not yellow or red (red racially, that is).
If you regard black people as a group as oppressed and disrespected, then you have to consider that for such a group there is a great appeal in finding some other classification that you can oppress and disrespect even more than you are. Kakamala is an ideal victim of that sort of bigotry.
