Soothiness: The Lost Songs of St. Kilda

A 70-year-old man sat down at a piano and played tunes he learned as a child, from memory.  The songs were taught to him by a music teacher who had lived on the remote Scottish Island of St. Kilda until it was evacuated in 1930 during WWII. The teacher taught him the tunes by placing his hands over the students on the piano.

  1. Watch the 1920s travelogue (next video after the “watch” link). I noticed the people on the island are definitely all from the same gene pool and are very good looking. Hearty people from a hearty time.

  2. This has nothing to do with politics, so I’ll post it and make a comment. I love Celtic music and one of my favorites is Ossian’s album Dove Across The Water from 1990, it can be found on Spotify. In particular the song Iona Theme, March, The Cunning Workmen, Columba, Iona Theme, Reprise is 12 minutes of incredibly soothing music. the whole album is well worth listening to.
