If you know who Soupy Sales was, you’re an old fart like me. I can’t even remember the last time that I saw Soupy Sales on TV, probably some time back in the early 60’s. All that I remember is that it was funny slapstick humor.

He was so lovable an funny that big time celebrities hoped to be invited on his show to have him toss cream pies in their faces .

@geoff, growing up in Michigan in the 60’s he was a staple of every kids after school entertainment.
We also had Milky the Clown (sponsored by Twin Pines dairy) and later Oopsy the Clown to supplement everyone’s favorite Bozo.
Times were good back then.
In his semi-retirement he used to call into the Imus show. Imus gave everybody a lot of (somewhat) good-natured crap but not Soupy. Soupy gave it right back and regularly reduced Imus to tears laughing. I miss them both.
