While the catalyst is unclear, it appears the market dropped as headlines of further sanctions against Russia appeared and reports of China deploying 150,000 troops to its North Korea border.

According to Korean news agency Chosun, the “Chinese army has deployed about 150,000 troops to the North Korean border in two groups to prepare for unforeseen circumstances.” The reason: the prospect of “military options”, such as preemptive attacks on North Korea, like the one the United States launched on Syria.

  1. It’s likely a warning to lil Kim to shut the fuck up or a message to lil Kim’s army to feed him to the rats in an unavoidable accident while the Chinese army moves in to help run the country.

  2. Assuming the reports are true:

    1. Turn back refugees. Arrest defecting officials.

    2. Poised to seize the reins if/when Trump turns the Presidential Palace into a gravel pit.

    3. “Friendly” reinforcements for helpful coup plotters once Kim assumes room temperature.

I’d assume the PRC always have a fluid playbook for assasinating Kim on short notice.
It’s not in America’s or POTUS’s interests just to temporarily chasten Kim and leave him in place to resume troublemaking later.
I expect Trump has decided on Regime Change.
Kim’s inherited paranoia is finally self-fulfilling.

Tricky operation. Deadman or Samson scenarios abound.

  3. @ Brad – Great statistics.
Not only are we outnumbering the rest of the world combined in the number of vessels, but also notice the MASSIVE tonnage of our Nimitz class compared to even the biggest of the other countries.
Also – France is the only other country with nuclear propulsion. Thus any enemy is dead in the water in a matter of weeks and we sail for years nonstop.

  4. Nuke powered subs will be the last vehicles running if it comes to WW3.

In a conventional conflict we don’t yet know whether Carriers will be the new sitting duck USS Arizona’s of a sub and missile era.
The WW2 battleships did not play the all-decisive role their advocates expected.

Hell, it may all be lasers from space and rail guns and the Men Who Stare At Goats.
