St. Cloud MN Schools Adds Somali and Ojibwe as Electives

Move over, Spanish and French. St. Cloud public schools next year will be offering Somali and Ojibwe to all students as elective languages.

“It just makes sense for us to have it,” said Lori Posch, executive director of learning and teaching for St. Cloud schools. “We want to see our students represented in our courses.”

The move comes after the St. Cloud school district this fall introduced what is thought to be the first native Somali language course in the state — and possibly the nation — for secondary students. More

  1. I new a guy in high school that took Spanish every year. He was from Spain (father was a diplomat) and was fluent in Spanish when he came to the USA.
    He took the Spanish to get easy A’s.
    The funny thing was he didn’t get straight A’s.

  2. English as a 4th language. Yes, it is a great idea to learn Somali so you can work in the welfare office giving benefits to the Somalis who will never learn english. Just like the mexicans.

  3. The Somali parents should force their kids to take all the English they can get and avoid these feel good woke courses on a dead-end language in most of the rest of the world.
