Staff at MSNBC are panicking over network’s direction

NYP: MSNBC staffers are panicking over the direction of the left-leaning news network under newly minted President Rashida Jones, fearing that she’s gearing up for a costly and potentially disastrous battle with CNN, The Post has learned.

Staffers say recent meetings with Jones and her boss, NBCUniversal news chief Cesar Conde, have focused on hard news — with the execs boasting of ratings wins over CNN on breaking stories, such as this summer’s congressional hearings on the Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol.

That makes some employees nervous that MSNBC isn’t adequately focused on shoring up its primetime lineup of opinion-focused shows that draw in the most loyal viewers. The issue burst into the open last month when news leaked that Rachel Maddow, the network’s star, had been negotiating a new contract and had threatened toleave.

“Rashida’s love is in hard news,” an insider said, pointing to the exec’s past roles guiding MSNBC’s daytime news coverage and NBC News’ coverage. “She doesn’t really get what primetime does.” more

  1. “oh, I can’t believe they put Rashida in charge of the theme for this year’s prom! I mean, would you do the New Kids on the Block when Beastie Boys are way hotter? what was she thinking??? oh my God!”

everything these people do, from running bureaucracies to all forms of entertainment (including media) is just an extension of their days in school. where being in the Student Council, yearbook committee, school newspaper, wearing the right ‘fashion’ & being invited to the next party was the most important thing in the world to them

… & it hasn’t ever changed for them one bit

  2. Bragging about beating CNN is like boasting that your Chevette just beat a bone stock ’61 VW Beetle with leaky valves & blowing smoke rings!

  3. Like that Aussie cop beating and strangling a girl half his size – MSLSD takes its victories where it can.

    izlamo delenda est …

I thought they made the huge jump to 40hp by then.
When I was 15 I got a 58 panel VW van with a gasoline heater in it. Didn’t come with a motor though. I built one with about 100 horse and put it in it.
My first van. Man, the drum brakes in the front sucked.
