Jan. 10 (UPI) — The U.S. State Department advised Americans not to travel to five states in Mexico due to increasing crime, the agency said in a travel advisory Wednesday.
The five states on the do not travel list are Colima, Guerrero, Michoacán, Sinaloa and Tamaulipas.
“Violent crime, such as homicide, kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery, is widespread,” the advisory states. “The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in many areas of Mexico as U.S. government employees are prohibited from travel to these areas.” more here
No need to travel there, our government is bringing those Mexican states right to your neighborhood.

I know this is antidotal, but the population of Chihuahua, the most dangerous state listed is 809,000. 700 murders last year. The population of New Orleans is 343,000. Metarie, Kenner and the outlying crime free areas raise it to 1,167,000. New Orleans murder rate is usually well above 500 every year.
I think the most dangerous states in Mexico are safer.

My wife and I spent 5 days in one of Michoacan. We saw a fun loving hard working family oriented people.
I remember about 8 years ago at my child’s bus stop, a mom neighbor was telling us how she saved her college-aged son much $$$ on his spring break trip to Mexico. I said something like, I would never let anyone I love travel in Mexico: kidnappings, murders, gangs, etc… She gave me that NJ liberal gotcha, “who cuts YOUR lawn?”. I said, “a couple of guys who escaped from Mexico.”
