Stone Temple Pilot’s Scott Weiland Found Dead in His Seat on Tour Bus – IOTW Report

Stone Temple Pilot’s Scott Weiland Found Dead in His Seat on Tour Bus

STP has long disbanded. Weiland was on tour with his latest band, The Wildabouts. He was 48, and a notorious heroin addict. No word on whether this is what did him in.

Weiland, for all his problems, was the premier voice of the “grunge” era.

  1. STP and Alice in Chains are by far my 2 favorite bands from that era, and both lead singers are dead.
With Kurt Cobain dead, if I were Eddie Vedder I’d go to the doctor today.

  2. Grunge though. That is the music of my youth. I hear that, and I’m back in my college years. Def Leppard takes me back to high school but grunge/alt rock takes me back to college.

Amazing how music is a time machine. It’s like I can SMELL the cigarettes and stale beer of a frat party.

  3. He’s a liberal a-hole but I would never deny that Vedder has the voice and Pearl Jam has survived the death of grunge and rock music all-together.
Nirvana, STP and Smashing Pumpkins (although not grunge) were my favorites from that era.

  4. Me too, BFH. Layne and Scott were so talented. It was just a matter of time. The music they wrote while high on drugs was amazing. I just wish they could’ve reigned it in, lived and not performed while on them. RIP.

  5. Hell, my understanding is that Rosa Parks was just flat out tired from cleaning houses for 12 straight hours, that’s why she didn’t move to the back of the bus. WTF’s his excuse?? oh, he did drugs, huh? well then, carry on, rocker, not like doing drugs could ever hurt anybody.
