He does a great job with a really great poem. We went over this one in depth in English Lit in college and the imagery it creates as well as speculation about the back story is ingenious for such a simple sounding poem. Having said that my ADD won’t let me ignore that he skipped the word “other”. I’ll still listen to more of his readings – I enjoy this sort of thing.
I like reciting verse to myself at night. It’s a way to wind down to sleep. Though short and simple, this one certainly has its features that make me have to focus. Which makes it perfect to shutting the world out for another night.
Why did the video last five minutes when the poem only took a little over a minute? Is that four minutes for them to install malware?
I took a hike through the local state park with my daughter this afternoon. We hiked for 5 miles through wooded trails while it was flurrying. I noticed a large buck hiding in the brush about 50 yards away as we passed (6-8 points). I pointed him out but my daughter couldn’t see him. I started walking toward him and he rushed away. Then she saw him. Now I’m thinking my eyes aren’t so bad after all.
A gorgeous poem contemplating death.
