Strange and Unusual

Images from:

1) Tim (Caterpillar) Some kind of bug on the deck.
2) SNS (Snake) I’ve just got a menagerie behind my new house, probably gonna have to end this guy before he eats my chicken eggs tho.
3) Tim (Walking Sticks) in Romantic Embrace on my front porch.
4) Uncle Al ʘ (Anolis sagrei); a Cuban anole couple, um, coupling in our Sarasota geezer cage (screened pool cage minus the pool). We love sharing it with lots of them! They eat ants and other bugs. BTW, it’s pronounced uh-NO-lee.
5) Truckbuddy (Cicada) Found this little guy emerging. At first I thought it was a snake.

  1. Good morning Lady C.

Thank you for the weekly relief. Particularly welcome today, it got a bit heavy yesterday for…some reason.

I take terrible pictures and this doesn’t do that guy justice. This guy is high up on a hollow tree watching me mow the lawn, and he’s (I think) a Black Rat snake about 5 feet long and several inches around.

The good news is that I didn’t have to end him myself. He evidently messed with some crow eggs the next day, and when the wife investigated a commotion in the trees, found this guy being assaulted high in the branches on all sides by a literal murder of crows.

Not sure how it ended, but haven’t seen him since.

So, h/t to God for solving my snake problem.

And thanks again to Claudia for showing him before his untimely, but not necessarily unwelcome, demise…

“…And do ravens and crows really say Nevermore?”

They did in Edgar Allen Poe’s day, apparently.

    But nevermore.

  3. I took a picture of there same type of wooly caterpillar yesterday. He was on the edge of a plastic folding table, where I was setting up a display for a local fall festival. And yes, it will hurt you!

    A wonderful theme this morning!

  4. @Dadof4: “Two of the pics show them mating. We went x-rated this morning! lol”

It’s X-rated only if it turns you on! LOL!

I tried to get a photo of the tiny little results of anole coupling, but, one, they’re really tiny, and, two, they more really fast. I could only get a barely visible blur!
