  1. I replace the working ends of our electric toothbrushes.
I do that every solstice and equinox. Whee! Yippee!

Actually, we don’t do much celebrating on the first day of summer here in Sarasota County, FL. Right now, it is 91°F, relative humidity 62%, “feels like” 104°F. In a few minutes I’ll leave my air conditioned house and drive my air conditioned car to the air conditioned local pizza joint where I’ll pick up our order of two pies. When I get home, we’ll eat hot pizza and drink cold beer (Yuengling’s lager at the moment).

  2. Today is my oldests’ b-day and he is 14 now, his younger brother 13. Just got out of work EARLY to find a wiffle ball game going in the backyard with their ‘brother set’ friends from up the block.

When they finish (and I decompress a bit), we are ALL going to the driving range to hit a couple of bucket of balls and then the batting range as well.

After that a bite to eat.

    I am blessed!

    Thanks C.

    @Uncle Al – it’s 76 degrees and 43% humidity. Awesome.

  3. I spent the morning watching the rain then when it stopped I put tie-rod ends on my Volvo. The left one broke yesterday after only a year of use. God was once again looking out for me, it broke 50 feet from my driveway and I was doing 15-20 at best. Aftermarket part – never again. Then spent the rest of the day driving around bragging how I have beat death again, I’ve lost count if that’s 6 or is it 8 lives??

  4. Well, If it wasn’t raining, I’d be outside with my new patio furniture and the very cool cushions that JUST arrived via UPS. So stoked…IF it ever stops raining, which doesn’t seem happen until next Thurs. 🙁
So, I made homemade Chicago deep dish pizza for dinner and we’ll enjoy that. Everything from scratch, which is how I like to cook. 🙂

I love half day Fridays. 🙂

  5. Google or search You Tube for SHIP CAM – Port Huron, Mi. Or SHIP CAM – Marine City, Mi. Thats where I’m usually at when I have no plans. If you’re lucky you’ll catch some of the Lake freighters. Maybe even a 1000′ footer.

  7. Perry, I had a F150 that used to eat tie rod ends like candy. They were non serviceable parts. No grease zerks. Plus they had nylon sockets so they never banged like others I dealt with. I finally did some calling and sleuthing around until I found some with grease zerks that I could service. Never replaced one again.

  8. Glad to see another summer! Beat cancer once!!!! Rode my Street Glide up town for a beer or two after working in my garage. Remember being young (am 72) AND DIVING OUTA TREES INTO QUARRY AND SCUBA AND FLYING AND CHICKS AND CHICKS………

  9. I made my home schooled children take their required (by the state) standardized tests so they could end their school year and start summer vacation. I had to work, in fact I am still at work but slacking off a little to see you people. 🙂

  11. Different Tim; The ones I put on a year ago had grease fittings and there was lots of grease in the boot. I put them on because I felt it was time. The new ones are MOOG hoping they are a better quality, only had two choices at my local auto parts store, I took what they felt was the best. It appears the post snapped off. The ball did not pull out of the socket. Can’t believe I wasn’t going 65+, because just minutes before I was. Had to coat hanger it back up just to drive it 200 feet into the driveway. Retired – have the time and a home garage – equipped with most everything.

  12. Drove around Northern Arizona looked at some folks damaged houses. Went: “Tsk, tsk. Glad this ain’t my house” Made them happy and drove away.
Now I’m watching The Virginian and working and waiting for the sun to go down so I can mark where it goes down on the mountain.

  13. If I could I’d be standing on the bank of the Russian river in AK, fishing for salmon. This is the opening day today. And you can fish all day and night because the sun doesn’t set.

  14. Hey AA, it’s a pretty good Salmon year in Alaska this year. They raised the limit on Sockeye on the Russian River to nine per day. King Fishing is strong too. I wish I was there also.

  15. Joe Btfsplk; No, don’t go there yet, I just got the plow put away. Its been raining every two days, garden loves it but not me. Sold the RV and got a tent at a bargain price. Going out to Thousand Islands for a while. The dog died and the kids are grown and winter is too long. Other than that…I’ll just keep getting up till I can’t
