An international grocery chain based in Britain was successfully pressured to remove signs “placed above tampons and other menstrual health products that asked people to report shoplifting of these items” at a location in Kensington, London, when a resident named Oonagh Ryder shared a photo of the sign online last week and it went viral.
“Help us build safer communities — report shoplifting to a member of staff,” read the apparently offense sign at a Tesco store.
A spokesman for Tesco even apologized “for any offense caused,” and claimed the sign was placed “in error.”
Ryder spoke with BuzzFeed News about the “offensive” sign.
“Signs like these encourage ordinary people to be suspicious and resentful toward their neighbors, rather than be angry about the root causes of someone needing to shoplift menstrual products,” she told them. “The UK has very high levels of inequality due to the decisions of successive governments, with increasing numbers of people unable to afford basic necessities.”
Ryder’s personal pronouns are listed as they/them/she/her on her Twitter account.
Other Twitter users have joined in on the discussion caused by her viral post.

Shop lifting certainly IS the problem.
Theft is theft.
Somebody has to pay, and it shouldn’t be the shop owner, the rich, the taxpayers or anyone except the person who wants/needs an item. There are all kinds of necessities in life. We all need food, water, clothes, heat, housing, and the list goes on and on. They can’t all be made free.
When will these freeloader lovers realize that??? Unfortunately, never. They don’t think, they only “feel”.

They weren’t “forced” to apologise. They folded like the spineless, useless, idjits they are.
Next thing you know, some SJW will “force” them into not charging for food items picked up off the shelves by the “homeless”. Followed shortly thereafter by alcoholics helping themselves to needed bottles of vodka without paying (healthcare for all!)

Added color should enrich the sightseeing experience to the enjoyment of strolling pedestrians.
They shouldn’t have apologized. If this is a recent uptick in thefts, you know who is swiping them…ragheads on the rag…which is why they apologized.
They can all take their “wokeness” and stick it where the sun don’t shine.
… or in JLo’s case, where the stage light DOES.
Stop selling the things and give them something to ponder.
Ok. Remove the signs.
Now place the products behind locked displays.
Now post a sign saying that the customer will have to notify a member of the staff, who will get a key to unlock the display door, allow you to get what you need, and then escort you to the register so you can pay for it.

After many years working in retail, i think shoplifters should be shot on sight, not necessarily to kill but to give the message this will not be tolerated. Shoplifters are not stealing from the store whose prices are adjusted to the cost of loss. They are stealing from me and you.
