  2. The only real productivity output of solar is 10 years and at 20 years they are nearly shot. As Wild Bill stated, your lucky to break even. Interesting, the crap electronics made in China will generally burn out or catch fire long before the panels give out. More than one home or school has caught fire.

  3. Solar is less expensive if you cut from the grid completely. Your appliances don’t care if it’s 58 or 62 c.p.s. Matching the grid pattern is a big part of the cost.
    If it wasn’t all just mass amounts of BS. They would be passing legislation the includes:
    Passive solar thermal mass for all houses north of xyz.
    Ground loop heat pumps.
    Small wind generators are more efficient, less line loss.

    40 years back, Mother Earth News printed an article that pointed out that solar and wind power does not scale up well. solar should be a back yard thing, wind power a city block thing, both should be an adjunct to commercial power, not a replacement for.
